Today James Randi still offers a $1 million prize to anyone who can prove they engage in paranormal activity, the prize used to be $10,000. Over the years James Randi has seen hundreds and hundreds of entrants, and for some astonishing reason absolutely none of the people can perform their paranormal acts under controlled conditions that take cheating out of the equation, hmmmm I wonder why. Time and time again the frauds(I mean psychics) have to come up with lame excuses as to why their con (I mean powers) won't work in a test. Here you see James Hydrick perform his "miracle" and 10 minutes later fail at the same miracle when cheating is taken out of the equation.

Jul 7, 2008 - Wow... just because it's YOUR favorite hobby doesn't mean others are automatically into it.

Jul 7, 2008 - If I had been James Randi I would have used paper confetti, then no way there could be the obsequious claim about 'static electricity'

Jul 7, 2008 - I like how at 9:05 his face shows that he knows he has been owned and there isnt a big enough hole to hide his head. By the way Randi told me that this charade of Hydrick trying to move the pages over took over 90 minutes in real time and the show's director was panicking over all the video tape used

catman747 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - the first time he turned the page, was that shot in real time?

Obelisk2290 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - James Randi said that Hydrick spent 90 minutes of real time in front of the phonebook with the foam around it. Guess he was praying for a miracle

Jul 7, 2008 - Served! Served! Served! Served! :D

idaltuguy Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - How did Hydick do that? I could understand if he moved his hand fast over the phone book, causing a swoosh of air to turn the page, but he didn't. He obviously used some trick though. Randi exposed him.

idaltuguy Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - The only problem with Randi's controls are, even though blowing would cause the styrofoam peanuts to fly off the table, the movement of the pages themselves could cause air currents (possibly blowing the peanuts off the table). Hydrick admitted he was a fraud later on. Randi has had many concrete controls that have trapped various "psychics" including the biggest fraud, Uri Gellar.

ericcartman321 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Hydrick has a penis haircut.

MisterPSA Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Look at how he backed up before he did it. If you walk a fair speed with a short sleeved shirt around the house you may have felt a slight blowing of air behind you, probably due to your shirt catching some of the air. I believe he used a similar concept here.

JBRHC78 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I think it would be pretty easy to distinguish the movement of peanuts from a burst of air that originated from directly behind the book and the small currents created by a page gently turning. The patterns would be completely different.

JBRHC78 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Gotta love James Randi. That parapsychologist was a tool, though. Parapsychology is a pseudoscience filled with frauds and fools.

idaltuguy Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - True, but I think there would still be some movement of the peanuts. You will still get a minor current of air as the pages are initially seperating from the phone book. This could potentially disturb the peanuts. In fact, the air burst that Hydrick is using (if he is blowing) is definitely minute. As far as I can tell, his chest/stomach dosen't even sink in when he is performing the trick.

idaltuguy Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Good point! I never thought of that!
