Stoel III is a musical group based in Amsterdam. Its three members (Govinda Mens, Tilmann Meyer-Faje, and Peter van der Jagt) compose and perform musical pieces written for a very remarkable instrument: the folding chair. After years of practice, they can coax an amazing variety of sounds out of their instruments. This short is a documentation of one of their practice sessions, in the basement of the Gerrit Rietveld Academie.

Sep 6, 2008 - *sigh* Why is some work so unappreciated? This was definitely something different to say the least. The sounds sounded much like a trumpet at times. It was interesting to see them practice. Thanks for the experience.

Sep 6, 2008 - This reminds me of a very old, vary small vinyl my father used to play for me. It was recordings of blue whales in the ocean communicating with each other. I used to dislike sitting with him and listening to that dreadful album but, later, I loved it. kinda like how I used to hate that sound of the chair but now I like it. Thanks :)
