noliarz Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - hmm.... cat stevens tune: father and son?

renaford91 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - the chord progression is barely anything like father and son.....the tempo is about 40 bpm quicker....and cat plays acoustic with no sound effects at all....the aren't very comparable at all! ALL HAIL THE LIPS!!! Can't wait to see you guys at Summer Camp 08' !!!!

tarheelgal1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Just starting getting into these guys, and I can't believe how great they are. I feel lucky enough to "get" them. Wayne is tha Man!

velvetun Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I agree I heard the similarities to "Father and Son." However, I thought it was on purpose because the lyric has a similar theme of a young person struggling to figure out life. Except here we have a guy struggling against his own philosophy instead of his father's.

noliarz Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - velvetun: yeah i saw that too! must be fun as hell writing lyrics are performing like that. so many messages and data...

ps3quinn Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - i'm crying i get bullied and listening to this makes me think "I'm mad as hell and i'm not going to take it anymore".

baraka1408 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - i love these guys so much! YOSHIMI lol!

moparmusclecars1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - It really does sound a lot like cat stevens song, "Father and Son."

moparmusclecars1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - On The Flaming Lips' 2002 album Yoshimi Battles The Pink Robots, there is a song called "Fight Test" that sounds a lot like "Fathe and Son"sang by Stevens In 2003, the song "Fight Test" was released as a single in the UK and got a lot of attention. Faced with a lawsuit, The Flaming Lips agreed to split the royalties from "Fight Test" with Cat Stevens.

hoyt41490 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - the singer is a fuckin camera hog.

WayneCoyne6000 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I LOVE THE FLAMING LIPS!!!!!!

luniland Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I don't know,? I would have beat the guys ass and lamented it too. So you can't really plan your life. You and me will go though life, being beaten or kicking ass. You can be a good example or a horrible warning. The choice is always yours. We you and me and everybody are what we are for now. All you'll ever have is now. Be what you want to be. The only gift you get is if your lucky enough to understand that now is good, everything else is a crap shoot. What if you can't die even if you want it.

ONEWORLD1111 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - That would suck if no matter what you do you will be reborn in to the world. But, I'm sure thats what karma is all about. You may end up in a burned out shack in Iraq. Crying for your mommas tit, but she's blown to smithereens. So, you grow up in kind of a bad situation.Half starved mostly uneducated never loved except for money. Now what? Join the jehad. What if abortion is only to keep a handle on who will be born so our structured world control it. Maybe kings or slaves in the future?

jaikwillis Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - lyrics seem to be a response to the lack of action after the 2000 elections were stolen.

MontyBurns35 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - the song has nothing to do with the elections.... its about a guy who loves a girl and does nothing about it when another guy comes and scoops her up out from under him..... its really pretty straight forward.... no crazy hidden meanings or anything...... read the lyrics again....

BibcottUnitas Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - This is a completely different song than Cat Steven's "Father and Son", I think it's BS that they have to pay him royalties, it's like Phish having to pay The Wailer's because "Farmhouse" uses the same chords as "No Woman No Cry", total BS

pixiesfan666 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - yes, it does

iamthemicrowave Says:
