Jul 7, 2008 - CDBaby has all our recordings, and they're great. Our worldwide distributor is Stern's Music (US & UK offices), our own label for Metropolitan Klezmer and Isle of Klezbos is "Rhythm Media Records." Sorry for the delay, happy listening! Great liner notes, translations, transliterations, and Yiddish lyrics plus English descriptions too.

Jul 7, 2008 - Thanks!! Do they all contain vocals?? Are they all in swing style??

evesicular Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Each CD includes some swing tunes, & more vocals too, plus lots of instrumentals. The most swing & vocals are on our latest two CDs: "Traveling Show" (live concert) & "Surprising Finds"... there are also Yiddish swing tracks on our first 2 Metro.Klezmer CDs & our Isle of Klezbos CD, though of our earlier discs the one with more vocals is "Mosaic Persuasion." ("Yiddish for Travelers" & "Greetings from the Isle of Klezbos" both include Yiddish swing vox, but are mainly instrumentals.)

Jul 7, 2008 - Nicely done - I just don't like the singer's pronounciation - like she doesn't understand the words.But it's brilliant - great musicians, appearently..

hit004541 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Hi again! Do you have the lyrics of the song?

nostressmusicmike Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Brilliant, it's great what you can do with a band of 8 good musicians - I've only got a duo..

evesicular Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Yes. They're also in the booklet of "Surprising Finds," where we first recorded our version of this tune. The traditional has many verses: this one is -- Ot azoy neyt a shnayder//Ot azoy varft er shtekh //A shnayder neyt un neyt un neyt//Un hot kadokhes, nit keyn broyt [NOTE: due to diff. Yiddish dialect prounciations, 'neyt' and 'breyt' can be rhymes].

evesicular Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Yes, our vocalist knows what she's singing about. This tune, though it has the theme of poverty, was previously adapted as an up-tempo swing in a diff. yet also sunny version by Cab Calloway. This verse translates: "That's the way the tailor sews, that's how he makes his stitches. A tailor sews and sews and sews and has plagues, but not any bread."

evesicular Says:
