Summer 2004. The worst fire season on recordwith 6.7 million acres burnt caused the interior to be shrouded in smoke a lot of the time. This particular day some western winds brought a little relief, allowing a view to the smoke plume from a relatively small wildfire southwest of town. While the smoke there drifts east, showers brewing near Alaska Range are drifting west.
