Didn't you wonder where your librarians disappeared to last January? Ten thousand of them were in Seattle for an American Library Association convention, and I was there to capture the bizarre congregation on video.

Jul 7, 2008 - As a 61 year old librarian myself, I loved this!! There were many many grey heads, wise and experienced women who love knowledge and sharing it with all comers. I also see here an opportunity for young people to train for and join this lively, cutting-edge profession as an information expert! Think about it, youTubers, go to library school! You will love your job, which is never dull or repetitive, and rarely involves shhhhing people. Librarians RULE!

Jul 7, 2008 - Marvelous seeing librarians in so important a stage of their life cycle! I kept looking for signs of environmental degradation destroying habitat, but perhaps librarians are adapting. I suspect a mutual ecological dependence between vendors and librarians must exist. I hardly ever see vendors around local librarian nesting sites, so there must be a balance. Are there any good Librarian Reserve locations?

Jul 7, 2008 - How innovative is this view of the librarian's life, with wonderful camera work and marvelous narration. It is far more important a movie than March of the Penguins. If the penguin's habitat is fraught with danger, so is the librarian's: unreliable public access computers, budget cuts, and the worst enemy of all: patrons. (they always lie). Still, heaven will indeed be a library.

rdavidon Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - We are indeed an amazingly homogeneous group! One can only assume this is the result of some form of natural selection.

Jul 7, 2008 - For a moment here, I thought I was watching National Geographics.

Jul 7, 2008 - As far as "naughty librarians" are concerned, there is a group known as The Association of Bellydancing Librarians" or some such thing. Google it if you dare.
