Jul 7, 2008 - Yes! Couldn't agree with you more. Why would someone of his talent waste his time on the Beatles?

machievellian Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Just puts to shame all those infernal "greatest 100 guitarist" countdown shows. pop culture doesn't know what great music is out there.

argasta Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - You should check on his CD's "J.S. Bach Works for Lute" Vol 1 and 2, it's brilliant, and he plays it on his special custom made 11 string guitar.

GiveMeMoreVids Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Beautiful. Truly beautiful compositions and the player is remarkable.

GiveMeMoreVids Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I've noticed that he repeats with his finger consecutively. He still manages to get a very consistent sound either way... he's very good.

franguitarzgz Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - BRAVO MAESTRO. GRACIAS

axrarx Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - lots of tension in his right

fredek16 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - You're right. I like Metallica or Iron Maiden but it's hard to set these types of music. This is absolutely brilliant. This Guitarist is amazing.

olaenilgntoeer Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - this is stating the obvious, but Göran alone should play the alto guitar. les passacaglias et les chacconnes, donc abusée, soient incroyablement émouvant.

ModernKempo Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I absolutely love this performance! But, this is not a guitar it's a modern lute.

geistsieg Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - The performance very well. I wonder where this man is from, he doesn't look like a Turk, but his name somehow sounds Turkish to me. His last name could be German though. The instrument can be considered a guitar, actually even is since it has the "Torres corpus". A guitar is also a lute.

geistsieg Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Oh, and Torres probbably isn't really the inventor of the modern guitar, since Holger Reuning found an older one.

5sticker Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Hi, G. Söllscher is from Sweden, and his guitar was special made for him. He played it as a lute, but he wanted a "normal guitar corpus"! But the sound is good in my opinion, like a theorbe.

craigalake Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Actually it would be very easy because this music was written for a baroque lute which in effect is exactly what this guitar is, except for the figure 8 body.

Ozquonk Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - I would disagree, ModernKempo. It is only the number of strings that makes it lute-like. The body design and string tension in particular are all guitar-based as far as I can see.

craigalake Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Sorry, were you replying to me or modernkempo? Anyway I was just replying to somone down the list that said this music would be difficult to arrange for this guitar. My point was just that it would fit easily on this instrument. You are right though in terms of tone etc.

Ozquonk Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - ModernKempo, as I said. And I agree with you, Craigalake, that the baroque lute repertoire is much more easily realized on a guitar of this design.

craigalake Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Ok, just the misunderstanding came cause I got an email saying you were replying to me but then your comment was addresed to modernkempo. Hey I just noticed you're from Perth. Me too. If you're interested check out some of my videos including my own transcription of this piece.

Ozquonk Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Ah well, that message was my inaugural YouTube posting! It's true that I'm from Perth but have lived in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney for many years. But I'd really like to correspond with you offline with some "what ever happened to...?"-type questions about Perth and the guitar scene. Just let me know if you are open to that.

Jul 7, 2008 - what the f is this???? hahahah, so did you guys meet up in perth for a shag or what? not trying to be mean guys, but it's one of the oddest threads i've ever read. do you like lutes? oh yeah i love lutes? do you dig the tone? man, i'm all about the tone? hey you live in perth? i totaly live in perth. we should mate.hhahaha

Ozquonk Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - It seems to me that you are very under occupied and way too confident about your capacity to entertain. Why don't you find some other thread to entertain? I don't believe this one needs you.

Elani88 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - Please son't think of me as a total guitar rookie when i say that i feel very proud to have played this (Weiss) at my public guitar recital/exam after ten years of guitar (at age 17) and received a 92 out of 100 points for it. When i hear this, it makes me wanna grab my guitar and play the piece again. Which is exactly what i'm gonna do now :) Praise youtube for making me wanna pic up my old passion again <3
