Oct 14, 2008 - Capoeira is awesome. And HLBCarlito, the position for the jinga isn't set in stone, it can be altered to better match their style and make them more comfortable. Capoeira is a very flexible style.

Oct 14, 2008 - bah, I don't wanna say this twice, but I wanna make sure you hear it.the position for the Ginga (you spelled it wrong) is not set in stone. It can be altered to better match the person's style and make them more comfortable. Capoeira is a very flexible style, which is why I like it so much.So don't be such a prick. ;)

Oct 14, 2008 - For any idiot saying capoeira is not effective it is. only some of the moves you saw in the video were for fighting.not all are intended to hit your opponent some are just for show like in any other martial art. So study capoeira before you knock it. It's about trickery and malaciousness. Hit and get away. I have a really great instructor. Thanks Wellington

Oct 14, 2008 - most ppl dont know it was made to look like a dance in order for slaves to practice it since slave master forbid any form of martial art

Oct 14, 2008 - I just joined a club for this style and decided to get a bit more info on it. I wanted something different and fun, this fits the bill perfectly. For anyone who wants something thats enjoyable, a good workout and competitive if you choose that route, this would be it
josephw000 Says:
Oct 14, 2008 - I might this month also man it looks like a good workout and something you can have fun doing all day with some good people. Looks a blast and its pretty inexpensive out here in S.D. Unlimited all month is only 120 a month....go as often as you like.

Oct 14, 2008 - Na, it was never disguised as a dance, since slave masters allowed it to be played. It wasn't until King Jao exiled himself from Portuegual to Brazilduring the Neapolionic Wars that *any* aspect of African culture was forbidden among the slaves at his decree. So disguising it as a dance would have been pointless. Oh, and from 1891 to 1923 it was banned in any form in most parts of Brazil except Bahia, so even then it wasn't disguised as a dance. Confusion with Silat and Kali about the dance thng
