Photographers Rights And The Law In The UK - A brief guide for street photographers.Know your rights when you're out with your camera.Despite the law being clear on a citizen's rights to freely take pictures in public places (with a few restrictions) there is growing evidence of the police, police community support officers (PCSOs), security guards and general jobsworths failing to respect the rights of photographers going about their lawful business.Street shotsIf you're on a public right of way - such as a public pavement, footpath or public highway - you're free to take photographs for personal and commercial use so long as you're not causing an obstruction to other users or falling foul of anti-Terrorism laws or even the Official Secrets Act (frankly, this one is unlikely).Property owners have no right to stop people taking photos of their buildings, so long as the photographer is standing in a public place (e.g. the road outside). However, if you're standing on private property and the landowner/occupier objects, then they have every right to request that you stop immediately and ask you to leave if you refuse.Shopping CentresMost shopping centres and malls stand on private land with many gaining a notorious reputation for speedily dispatching stroppy security guards demanding that you stop taking photos. The irony that they're already busy filming you from every angle via a flotilla of CCTV cameras is generally lost on them.Deleting imagesSecurity guards do not have stop and search powers or the right to seize your equipment or delete images or confiscate film under any circumstances. For more info on photographers rights, please visit:http://www.urban75.org/photos/photographers-rights-and-the-law.htmlSpecial thanks to:http://youtube.com/FKNnewzhttp://youtube.com/DarrenPollard1sthttp://current.com/people/opencircuithttp://youtube.com/SparksVidshttp://youtube.com/BrianHowes390

Nov 18, 2008 - Most of the Police are fucking idiots hence the mess we have just seen on this tape. This is what our so called Political leaders in Britain have allowed to occur deliberately. When are people going to wake up, politics is bullshit, it is there to take taxes and serve the ruling classes.
SHAOLINSINZ Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - nope they patrol and control.n a good percentage are freemason scum who spend there time looking down on lower classes. Its no wonder they take pleasure through putting them in prison.

Nov 18, 2008 - I don't agree with this one. People should have the right to tell people not to record them.

Nov 18, 2008 - Don't this is America where gov't has the right to track and film and stalk the citizens in the name of Homeland Security but the citizens have no such right to track the doings of gov't. Just the way it is, it happened when we sold our country to the rich.
RadioReporter01 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - This is nice but I live in NYC. The rules are pretty much the same unless a cop decides to rewrite the rules as he goes along.Check my page, I have a vid of the cops messing with me for filming them. What you don't see are the next 2 vids where they chase me.Many comments from those who think the cop was within his rights to bother me.

Nov 18, 2008 - i cant wait to see the day when the English destroy all the cameras, like the day the Berlin wall was destroyed.
GoblinXXX Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - PEOPLE, yes. Police officers on duty? No, I don't think they SHOULD have the right to not be filmed. An on-duty cop is essentially "public property" by definition.
BriscoCountyJr23 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Well it is Britain, and all the citizens are the subjects of the Crown, and when I say Crown I do not mean the British Royalty.
PopeSnowball Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Lmao that guy owned those 2 Police :P'Can I have your 2 names?'
OneManAndHisFiction Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Those "security guards" in the last few scenes are clearly "Disturbing the Peace". If any security guard would do that to me, I would phone 999 and ask specifically for a "Peace Officer" (not a corporate 'Police' or 'Policy Enforcement' Officer), and I would state that the man is disturbing my peace.I would identify myself as a real man rather than the legal-fiction called the 'person'.This is the power of the Common Law, and the Peace Officers will (should) help.
OneManAndHisFiction Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - That's right. The "House of Hanover" (renamed to the "House of Windsor" on 17 July 1917) only holds the seat (the throne) to The Crown Corporation. They are not the stakeholders, although they rightfully have a lot of stakeholdings in many other corporations.
WHATnoPies Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - u need only two 'o' levels in ANY subject,ie art and music, to b a member of the 'filth' in the uk. probably less these days. we have ignorami policing our streets.
godeanusebastian Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - From 10 police officers,6 are free-masons,hope that explains many things.
