Nov 18, 2008 - This is Sonata No. 1. I hadn't heard of Fauré a couple of months ago and now he is one of my favorites. I got a CD of this played by Grimaux on a whim. Wow! This sonata is really one of the best I've ever heard. Terribly romantic, over the top emotionally, but really outstanding. Beautifully played here -- too bad about the sound quality, but the emotional content comes through. Bravo!

Nov 18, 2008 - BEAUtiful. One of the best recordings of it I have ever heard - maybe the best. Silvia's radiant, robust tone is perfectly suited to the Faure Sonata. I just wish she'd record these for some record label - you know there are only two recordings out there of hers - the Sibelius and the Beethoven sonatas...why doesn't some record label sign her?!! I don't get it! Instead we have to resort to YouTube to hear her? She mostly performs in Europe, no help to us who live elsewhere in the world.

Nov 18, 2008 - you are so right...she is a goddess of the violin...never getting the way of the music. Her phrasing is so poised, balanced, soaring and intimate!

Nov 18, 2008 - Yes, she is a unique talent. She is also a professor - I wish I could study with her. I'm sure she is an outstanding teacher. I hope she is still concertizing in the USA.
