Nov 18, 2008 - Yeah the case is nice. I dont think more case fans would make much of a difference in GPU temp. The thing is, that, at least on the first 8600GT xxx XFX made (i bought mine last year when they just release it), they put on the GT this extremely tiny cooler. It was enough to keep the card working, but the temps were too high. That´s why i replace the cooler on the card with one from ZALMAN, and now it runs cooler on full load, than what it did on idle with the stock cooler

Nov 18, 2008 - I dont know... but most of the 8600GT cards with 512MB are a lot slower than the 256MB versions. coz most of the 512MB models use slow DDR2 memory at 800Mhz, but the 256MB ones use faster GDDR3 RAM, on mine, ram runs at 1600MHZ (1750Mhz now with the overclock)Also mine is an XXX version with 620Mhz core/1458Mhz shaders ( now its at 735Mhz core/1841Mhz shaders with the overclock i did)maybe yours is at stock clocks 540Mhz/1190Mhz with a lot slower ram, and so i get better performance

Its faster than yours but not by a lot, and the other parts of your pc are certainly better than mineOverclocking will increase temps and power consuption so you should be careful, and every card is different. you may or may not reach clocks near mineBut i guess you can try and see if it helps. It worked fine for me

Nov 18, 2008 - ok i overclocked the core to 867MHz and the ram from 700 to 1156MHz and i get 100 fps now at direct x 10 mode i overclocked my processor to 3.1GHz it runs nice and cool too thanks for the help. btw if you put the settings on direct x 10 quality you are suposedly suposed to get better performance
