Nov 18, 2008 - The patient has an overbite. I need to get this procedure done to correct mine actually. It will also enhance my profile, cuz i hate itSince I'm already 17, my bone structure has already finished developing, so braces wouldn't be able to fix the overbite, so surgery is the only way. Had i gone to the orthodontist when i was 12-ish, braces and most probably a headgear would have corrected the problem.Insurance doesn't cover it though, cause they see it as "cosmetic surgery".Wish me luck!

Nov 18, 2008 - I've just had the surgery done 1 week ago and although you definatley feel like crap for the first few days following the op, the pain isnt as bad as you would think. I also had my upper jaw moved up 3mm which sounds horrific but not as bad as you would think.\the only major problem I have at the moment is the pain in my chin. I am undure as to why I hae such a strange consistent pain in my chin and was wondering if anyone had experienced the same thing ?Good luck !!

Nov 18, 2008 - I had the same thing done about 3 years ago and it was the best thing i ever did. i also had my upper jaw moved up and i definitely remember that my chin was the thing that actually gave me the most trouble. i know it sounds silly but sometimes it still aches a little when it's really rainy and cold outside. mine actually was covered by insurance because it was a medical issue. i couldn't chew food right and my jaw kept locking open and popping nonstop.this way it was coded so it wasn't cosmetic

Nov 18, 2008 - yes, you're all right!!! Having this "curse" on me too just like you, it's like hell every day whenever people look at my face. I can't hide the feeling of being ashamed. To anyone wanting to have this surgery: GOOD LUCK!

Nov 18, 2008 - I am now 3 1/2 months post surgery and the difference is unreal. I still cant open my mouth really wide but enought to eat most things I want. Its still quite soon to tell the final result but its huge so far. For once in my life I find myself closing my mouth and breathing through my nose rather than through my mouth !!Still have a tiny bit of swelling across my nose and my chin and roof of my mouth is still a bit numb but nothing that really bothers me on a day to day basis
fifi36h Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I check back in with my surgeon in January and he thinks he may perform Rhinoplasty as my nose is a bit more spread out than it used to be due to my jaw moving up but nothing too major ! I will let you know how I get on in January but until then, If anyone is having this surgery, DO NOT WORRY ! you will be fine. It is so worth it and it honestly looks worse than it is !

Nov 18, 2008 - had my overbite corrected ten years ago. back then they wired your mouth shut for 6 weeks. has anyone had their titanium plates/screws removed? I need to have mine out as it will interfere with an implant i need.
