Nov 18, 2008 - I just love this song!!! My Dad had an 8-track tape of James Taylor, in the 70's. It had all James Taylor's best songs on it : (Handyman & many others). This song is very special to me because, my Dad used to sing it to me, when I was only 4 years old. Thank God for James Taylor!!! Because of him; "Handyman", me & my Dad's song!!!! Thank You so much, James!!!

Nov 18, 2008 - Guess I could be your Dad, dear marie,I'll always remember when I heard JT for the first time, You've got a Friend and this one, way back in the 70's, I immediately fell for it, and I still do...So good to see that kids still love it!

Nov 18, 2008 - Ya I guess you could be. My Dad is now 54 & I'm 32. I've always loved music & I have my Dad to thank for that. He was always listening to some kind of music: (Rock, Pop, Folk, Country, Bluegrass, The Blues, etc..)Well, since I'm my Dad's little girl; I'll always have a love for music of any kind.

Nov 18, 2008 - JT's Lucerne concert seemed a bit dusty and bizzarre, like some songs with a videotaped choire, strangely off-key, or his somewhat pathetic projections of former girl friends "Do not let me hearOf the wisdom of old men, but rather of their folly,Their fear of fear and frenzy, their fear of possession,Of belonging to another, or to others, or to God.The only wisdom we can hope to acquireIs the wisdom of humility: humility is endless."And humble he was...

Nov 18, 2008 - When this song came out in June 1977, we had a drought in the region of Cheyenne, WY, and Greeley, CO, where we heard it at an outdoor swimming pool. You know it's sunny and warm during droughts!!!!! :) Look on the bright side!!! XD

Nov 18, 2008 - A great James Taylor tune, probably my favorite. However, we would all do well to realize "Handy Man" was a REMAKE. I had a feeling it was based on a '50s hit as soon as I heard the "come-a-come-a-come-as." Turns out the original was written by Jimmy Jones, a black doo-wopper who had a huge hit with it in 1959. He collaborated with the great Otis Blackwell, another black songwriter who wrote "All Shook Up" and "Don't Be Cruel" for Elvis, and "Great Balls of Fire" for Jerry Lee Lewis. Did U know?
