Nov 18, 2008 - We paid a guy named VinnieT 20 bucks a piece for 4 tix to this show. He gave us Mets tickets taped together with his initials on the back. He signalled to one of the guys at the gate who let us past. We then had to storm the gates with about 200 other fans to get on the field. There were so many people on the field that upon leaving the stadium I could not control my speed or direction. I was pushed out of the stadium. Great show.

Nov 18, 2008 - I was there for this great show. I remember it was raining during The Clash's set. You can see some of the fans on the field with umbrellas so this footage is from that show and not the other show. Not sure if my show was first or second night. I think it may have been October 12, 1982

Nov 18, 2008 - I was awfully young then, but I trace a lot of the Clash's sound to ska and reggae (both punk influences)and bands like the Specials, T-Rex, Iggy and the Stooges, and Bowie. (You can hear a lot of Bowie's "Suffragette City" sound in this song).I think there's a little more to early punk than just the Pistols and the Ramones. A good source (if you're interested) for modern rock history includes most any book show by historian and CFNY program director Alan Cross.
