Nov 18, 2008 - its a Crate FW15R and i use an Epiphone Les Paul Standard (stock everything except for strings, I've been using GHS Baby Boomers and Ernie Ball light gauge and light and heavy sets, if i knew how to adjust the truss rod by myself without fear of screwing the guitar up i'd probably put some heavier strings on it.

Nov 18, 2008 - well... you could always get a distortion pedal.. lol. i dont' know much 'cause i've started as well and i can't seem to get the right tone either.. i'm using a Schecter Damien FR with a roland micro cube (yeah i know the amp sucks) but the rectifier setting isn't working out the way i wanted it to and that's really the only distortion it comes with so i just got a distortion pedal...

ant314 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - i have a digitech death metal pedal, and i got myself "xmas gifts" that are more pedals and shit, just because the $200 pedals were on sale for like $30 at guitar center. :]now i just need to wait so i use my Anthrax modeled Black 13 pedal, and the rest of them which are more like funky sounds and yeah.hopefully its just a matter of like downtuning my guitar more or something

zomiefromuranus Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - oh awesome! i got some cheapo fender one from target lool. i needed one really badly, so it was the cheapest one but sadly it went haywire on me yesterday so all i hear when i plug it in is a high pitched squeel sound :(

Nov 18, 2008 - sounds like a part from a bullet for my valentine song.
guschamber Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - hey zomiefromuranus,i've got a solution to ya effect pedal, try this...plug in the input real slowly then pull it back out,do it several times and the sound should be restored, its got a problem with ya input switch knob,if it still doesn't work, plug into the input and knock the effect gently on the floor, remember to keep the volume and a minimal coz it might turn on suddenly, experience
chriscoooley Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - you could get heavier strings and keep the guitar in a lower tuning, it would balance out and you wouldnt need to re set up the truss rod

ant314 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - oh dude that suuuuucks. which one did you have? Starcaster? is it just a wiring problem? like just a simple soddering thing or soemthing?
ant314 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - yeah, its on Drop D, should I go lower though? i want like that really "thick" sound... but that probably is just a different type of pickup that i'll need to upgrade rather then just downtune some more, right?
chriscoooley Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - yea, i guess tuning lower gives you a bit deeper, thicker sound. you should also try adding in a little bass on the amp.
zomiefromuranus Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - haha yeah sadly, it's a starcaster. you know i'm not sure if it is or not, i haven't had much time to check but i'm going to as soon as i get the chance.. i'll try what guschamber suggested first just for the hell of it ;) if not i'll open it up and have a look if it needs some soldering then i'll borrow my dad's equipment.
jonnyshredfayce Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - thats pretty sweet...
luckyguitar123 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Actually a lot of metal guitarists tune down to C, you should try to do that, and better pickups never hurt
AlexGronstad Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - lol he didn't sweep clean in the beginning.
