Nov 18, 2008 - These are vids of simulated crosswind landings. to get certified they do amazing amounts of tests to prevent that udder disaster!!!
1hijax Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The airlines do progressive inspections that are totally in tune with Boeings recommendations. I work on them I know. Oh the 2nd plane is a 747sp for special purpose made for the requirements of Japan Big plane small runways... the sultan of Oman has one that Boeing re-opened the line to make....

Nov 18, 2008 - "You no what the British are like they always have to do things their own way."Yeah - Like inventing radar, the railway train, the hovercraft, the television, disc brakes, the electric motor, the jet engine, the internal combustion engine, the submarine, the lightbulb, steel making and oh yes...putting up with non-patriotic arses like you mate!!

Nov 18, 2008 - This is a cross wind landing test. Not simulation.
preluderacer88 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - the british worked with the americans to make jet engines. the submarine was invented in the revolutionary war by american forces. radar was invented in america. sonar was british though. an american made the lightbulb. the combustion engine was made by an irish man. and mass producing steel was made in america. the british did invent unjustified arogance though.
preluderacer88 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - america invented the computer. self propelled aircraft. rifling of barrels in fire arms. nuclear power. solar power. aircraft carriers. the gatlin gun. just to mention a few world changing things. and we always whooped the british' ass

Nov 18, 2008 - ...?whats the big deal? I do that almost every day on microsoft flight simms. Scares the shit out of the passengers...sometimes I crash and kill every one on board...I don't care...screw 'em, they didn't like me any way.
shaneo2083 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - hmm. you should check your sources. these are all interpretations of how you define the inventions. the first actual aircraft carrier that was purpose built was american. and if you wanna get real technical the vikings made the first sub and it was called the turtle (translated) it appears to me that 1847 is earlier than 1855. it also apears that 1934 was before 1935. you obviously dont know much about wwII or you would know about the comet. look it up. or the meteor one was brit one was us.
preluderacer88 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - tnt u.s., turrets on tanks france, guided missles us, rifling wasnt in the 15th century however it was initially intended to make firearms easier to clean so it was an accidental invention. kinda like microwave ovens. the first computer was made shortly after ww2 in the us and was the size of a school bus with about as much computing power as a handheld calculater.

Nov 18, 2008 - The big deal is that it's "Real Life." FS is just a simulation.

Nov 18, 2008 - Apologies for off-topic. was intended as a sub-post. Also hit word limit before making pt:The more you research 'who invented X', the more gradual & multi-party the invention becomes (most of the time).E.g. computer. Does Babbage's mechanical computer count? Zuse's Z3? Harvard Mk 1? Eniac? Machester baby? Each had new features making it more like a 'modern' computer. So which one was THE invention? Also, is describing it enough, or do you have to build it?
marktsgooch Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Finally - 'don't know much about WWII' - what's your point? Both aircraft you quote were British! I did look them up - did you?The Meteor was the first British jet fighter, & flew in 1941. (Heinkel He 178 flew in 1939)(Wikipedia)The Comet was the first commercial jet airliner, designed & built after WWII. First flew in 1949. (Wikipedia)

Nov 18, 2008 - Wow man, that was awesome.
mrwideboy Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - sorry mate but the british invented the electonic computer to decode the german enigma machines an blechley park in oxford, which was captured by a british (Special boat squadren) raid on a german submarine but somehow hollywood managed to turn it to an american raid in u571,just look it up dude. Americans were to busy shooting there own troops.

Nov 18, 2008 - That last 777 was the best i'v seen. The pilot must have balls of steel.
krismat89 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - where do those pilots work ?? would feel very safe with them at the controls....especially as heard from a pilot that these days you can get your 'wings' in a matter of days using autopilot !!!
birddoggarton Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - they all have to do this every now and then, to certify.
Leoskies Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Great skills, but notice the flat terrain surrounding the airfields? 30-40 Kts xwind, can be more straight forward than 15-20kts xwind with hills, hangars, trees etc near the touch down zone. Top video!
