Nov 18, 2008 - I enjoyed A COUNTESS FROM HONG KONG, the movie that this song came out of. It was funny, charming and warmhearted. Not nearly as bad as critics say.

Nov 18, 2008 - thank you for this one tony not a lot of people know charlie chaplin wrote it. for his movie A Countess From Hong Kong, starring Sophia Loren and Marlon Brando.Clark recorded versions of the song in French, Italian, and German for the European market. At the same time, her husband Claude recorded the original English version used in the movie. At the end of her recording session, Petula Clark recorded her English version using her husband's backing track.

Nov 18, 2008 - An English-language version by Harry Seacombe was released in the UK before Clark's -- his version spent a week at #1 there thanks for the post and thnaks for sharing this tony devento74

Nov 18, 2008 - A great song, incredible talent. Looking thru the posts, could'nt help but think how 'civilized' these remarks are. No "mental midgets" trying to impress with the crude posts. Guess these imbeciles don't gravitate. to "good music".Anyway, Petula Clark, Dusty Springfield. Great stuff, hope I hav'nt jinxed the comments. Keep these 'charlatans' at bay.Guys gotta be a Brit. Gotta luv it. :}
