He won the Recital Gold Medal at the 2002 Royal Bank Calgary International Organ Festival and Competition, and most recently, the 1st Grand Prix in the 2002 International Competition of Toulouse. Mr. Dubois currently teaches harmony and counterpoint at Angers National Conservatory where in 2005 he was appointed assistant-manager of the conservatory. He is also the titular organist at the Cathedral of Soissons. Mr. Dubois was invited by Daniel Roth, titular organist of St. Sulpice in Paris, to make a recording for JAV Recordings on the 1862 Cavaille-Coll Organ. This instrument is one of the great French builder's masterpieces which comes down to us as the builder left it. This disc will include organ music of Lizst, Duruflé, Rachmaninoff, Mozart and an improvisation by Mr. Dubois. It was recorded on May 13, 2006 and will be available in SACD surround sound in 2007. This film was made late on the evening of May 11, 2006 at St. Sulpice. I took a cab across Paris and met Michel Goussu (organ curator of St. Sulpice) at the back door around 10pm. Vincent was practicing Franz Liszt's Evocation of the Sistine Chapel. They practiced while I took lots of photos, and before midnight I filmed my video which contains the Liszt and the first movement of Widor's 6th Organ Symphony.

Nov 18, 2008 - Yes you're right:) But I wonder what it would sound like on the Passau Cathedral organ. The one that Daniel roth played was absolutely briliant!
advisorC101 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - PS: this is a refence to the Recording of Daniel Roth's video at St. Sulpice playing widor's 6th symphony.

Nov 18, 2008 - Dubois is the ABSOLUTE CAT'S MEOW, people! We heard him live at Baylor University in Waco this year---he played Franck's (UTTERLY DREADFUL) "Grande Piece Symphonique," the Durufle Suite, and Widor VI---all completely by memory---and it was UNBELIEVABLE!(EVERYBODY---who is ANYBODY---plays by memory, you know!)The above commentary---about Franck---is editorial; I've just NEVER liked Franck.Heresy---I know---as---I'm an ORGANIST---and of Flemish extraction. Vincent Dubois ROCKS!Martin
EccentricRichard Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - You're dreadful, not Franck. Anyone who can fail to appreciate the beauty of the Prelude, Fugue and Variations, or the sheer genius and grandeur of Choral no. 3 is a sad excuse for a human being. Franck was way better than any of his contemporaries, like Widor or Guilmant.
skyler6290 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Interesting to compare Mssrs Dubois and Roth's tempo and overall style of playing the same Widor 6th Final. Of course the ever magnificent Cavaille-Coll instrument sounds as spectacular as always. I don't know why this piece isn't more universally loved as it is so stunning when played with such vigor and drive as these two gentlemen do.
Chamborant Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Sainht-Sulpice is my church, and I can tell you they are body-gards, because hundreds of people would kill in order to play only one minute on this organ.( Me too)And many american tourists holding "Da Vinci Code" in hand told us that a crime was committed in this church by a monk, so we believe it.
advisorC101 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - They aren't bodyguards, The gentleman wearing the white shirt is is Michel Goussu the currator of the organ but I don't know who the other man is probably an assistant.
BeFrSc Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Listen to Franck's Prelude, Fugue et Variation, thats what got me to like Franck, particularly the recording of it by Xaver Varnus here on Youtube.
mogemoets Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I hear you. But with me---well---there's one consistant compositional flaw---inherent in all 12 (13) organ pieces Franck wrote:every thing he wrote is OVER one page on length!AND the "Final" in B Flat" is the best piece he wrote, because it's only 4 pages long...!HEe hEe HEeIn other words, it's all SUCH long winded literature that I have a hard time sitting still through it...!Martin
ahmelmahe Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I've played that Coll many times, and I didn't have to kill to do so. With regard to your understanding of the tonality of that instrument within the Sulpice acoustical architecture - your playing was an absolute abortion. There's no need to have blood shoot out of the listeners ears. You played like Diane Bish, (The First Lady Of The Crescendo Pedal), on crack. Hopefully, your playing will mature as you mature.
ahmelmahe Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - In the event that I did not make myself clear, the "abortionist" organist I refer to is Mr.Dubois! Daniel Roth is not simply a great organist and musician - Daniel Roth is THE GREATEST OF THE GREAT organists, both living and past!! He, his instrument, the venue and the soul of the composer meld into one. Just keep your eyes on Roth's face, his body movements, hands and feet - Roth is in an absolute trance. I'm considered great - Danial is light-years ahead of me.
gamecrazy132 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - the sound of true power
Fozzymaple Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Now if we could replace Cameron Carpenter with Vincent Dubois, I think we'd be better off, Dubois's playing shows much greater maturityy than does Carpenter's.
advisorC101 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Sorry I made a mistake, the man wearing the white shirt is Johann Vexo who is just an assistant and the other man with the glasses is Michel Goussu.
pipeman126 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Cool!!!!!
orgatrain Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - For the guy Bitching about how loud the organ is, Vincent mentions he will demonstrate the TUTTI and that is what is sounds like.....Fool......to all other who complain.....where's your recording? Lets see you try..
asgjdas Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - If my memory serves me right, Daniel Roth used Tutti for the ending of this piece when I saw him last summer on the same organ...so I would check yourself ahmelmahe
ahmelmahe Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I don't need to check myself. I stand by my statements; both of them. You talk Tutti. I talk soul. In my humble opinion, Vincent is not there. Maybe some day.
smb12321 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Why in the hell do clowns like ahmelmahe get on Youtube simply to bitch at everyone else's performance? Oh, and compare them unfavorably to their won. If I hated the playing as much as they claim, I wouldn't waste my time trying to inform the populace about the do's and don'ts of Tutti or how THEY played the same instrument. Jeez! I heard Dubois in a concert the other night - favulous as usual.
advisorC101 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Although I do like Mr Dubois tempo better.
