Nov 18, 2008 - Yes, she did.... How dare that drug-abuser, Martika change it in the way she did, LOL.
agentleman121 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I was simply citing history. Did you know Carole King was a young child when she was discovered as a great performer? Her babysitter was a queen of 1950s doo-wop fame. Now I forgot her name. She made "Loco-Motion" a hit song and a hit dance.
mccainorobama Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I didn't know that her babysitter, Little Iva (maybe Little Eva, I forgot), discovered her. I thought Carole King let her sing "Loco-Motion" and that's when her baby sitter was discovered. I think she quit babysitting after her hit.
agentleman121 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yes, I think you are right and I had switched it around. Her babysitter is Little Eva (spelling checked according to "Rolling Stone's Encyclopedia of Rock&Roll"). Carole was famous first, and a member of a great songwriting duo (King-Geffen). Then Little Eva was a recording star (for only one hit, "Loco-Motion,") which is great as covered by Grand Funk Railroad in the 1970s.
mccainorobama Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I think Carole King was encouraged by her friends to start singing. She wrote with Gerry Goffin and later married him, had two children with him (I think she had one with someone else later), divorced him, and they are still friends. Yay!
agentleman121 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yes, I started reading the entries of that book I quoted for both Little Eva and Carole King. Did you know Neil Sedaka wrote his hit "Oh Carol" in honor of King but he spelled her name wrong. Later, the encyclopedia says Carole King wrote a reply song called "Oh Neil," but it never reached the charts. It is probably on one of her albums.
mccainorobama Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I think she was about 56 in this video.
mccainorobama Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Nevermind about what I said before. She's 50 or 51 in this video (1993 is when it was done, I think). She gave birth at home????
mccainorobama Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - What book is this? I knew that Neil Sedaka wrote that song, but I didn't know that he spelled her name wrong. I also knew she wrote "Oh Neil" in return. Did you know that Carole King's real name is Carole Klein? I don't know if she legally changed it to Carole King or not.Do you know if Carole King was one of those people who got involved in drugs? I hope she wasn't, but her friend, James Taylor, did.
agentleman121 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The book is called "Rolling Stone's Encyclopedia of Rock&Roll." It gives biographies of every person who is important in music since rock & roll began. It is a very good resource of info but my copy was written in 1979. I think the editors update it every year. For instance, my copy does not mention that John Lennon died. Of course, my copy was produced before that happened. Other than Billboard Magazine, the official charts of music, Rolling Stone magazine is a great source of info for music.

rocco777777 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - damn, i never knew carole went out like this...what is this, an early '90s prozac commercial or what? i adore carole king: her voice, her songs, her face, the piano--ah! the piano: i think she should sit down and play it and leave the floor show to tina turner. the only other things i don't like about this are the arrangement, the band, and the video production--otherwise it's all good. carole is one of the greats but why she did this i will never know.

Nov 18, 2008 - If the only person before her that did that was a legend, Carole King should have the title of "legend", as well. Hopefully she just doesn't die of a drug overdose on the "throne".
