Nov 18, 2008 - Wow, the music is beautiful, so is the vid. I´ve been playing this for more than half an hour now and I just can´t take my eyes away. I´ve always wanted to go to America, just to learn about the culture of the First Nations. The music is really relaxing. I´m going to try to focus on my homework now, just listening to it. I will probably dream of this tonight. :)

Nov 18, 2008 - The man singing is no native american but Terje Tretnes from Karasjok, a known norwegian Sami joiker singing the joik "Normo Jovnna". It appears Virgin records made an artificial native american song, using his voice without the joikers permission, somehow the recording came from a dutch TV channel interviewing Terje Tretnes to Virgin records. The joik is so old that nobody knows its authour so its difficult to have an copyright issue.
sturlamolden Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - For another version with Sámi lyrics look for "Normo Jovnna" by AIGI (Aigitheband on YouTube). Indian chanting and Sámi joik is quite distinct. It is funny you Americans can't tell the difference.
sturlamolden Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - It probably means nothing. The original title is "Normo Jovnna Luohti" which means "John Normo's joik" in indigenous Scandinavian.
