Nov 18, 2008 - i might not sound artistic but i know that curling has absolutly no art, y do u think that curling is artistic?

puffyfan2 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Absolutely! The skip assesses the position like a chess player, sets the tarrget. The thrower makes a graceful glide with good aim an gently releases the stone. The sweepers then help the stone go longer and staighter careful not to touch any stones, until it reaches the house or guard position. Shots include the draw, the takeout, the raise, the runback, the freeze and the split. In short, YES curling IS artistic!

puffyfan2 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Correction...VERY artistic!

Nov 18, 2008 - Dude. I absolutely love Curling and I don't know why. It's awesome. :D <333

geargfgeg Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - i absolutely refuse to believe that this is an olympic sport. refuse.

puffyfan2 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - I watch, analyze, and meditate on the position of the stones in the house, not the sweeping. It's like marvelling over a beautiful position in a chess game and contemplating the player's next move. And chess was my first love over all other activities growing up since I was 13 years old. Now they are curling and watching baseball and flat track roller derby. Curling is so much like chess in its intellect and it's for that reason I love it. Both games are AWESOME!!

Nov 18, 2008 - Having this game in the olympics is a shame for the humanity, i think that means that today there is really space for everyone everywhere...

calmac91 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - What makes you say that? You could probably argue the same for ping pong, synchronized swimming and gymnastics. Just because you may not enjoy watching or playing it as a sport doesn't mean other people shouldn't. Believe it or not, it takes a lot of skill to make shots like that, as well as carefull judgement by the team captain (skip). Sports can be about skill as well as physical strength. What about archery and shooting?

Carlovfx Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - I totally agree with you: the fact that i don't like it dooesn't mean that someone else likes it. But, for me the winter olympic games are something really precise, and i talk about curling as well as i talk about basketball and soccer in the olympics. The next stage will be pool or polo or what else?

puffyfan2 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Well,it seems to me polo is really a high-class activity that wouldn't make much sense for the Olympics, but pool does with its mthematical pecision straregy. And you know what is already an Olympic event? Chess! Can you believe that? Chess is my favorite game, apart from curling and watching baseball and roller derby.

puffyfan2 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - All of those, baseball, roller derby, curling and chess, are sports. Not all physical sports, but sports nevertheless. And I AM in an athletic training program for curling. And one in chess too, though a mental one, not physical.
