OpticalFascism Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Dubstep seems more of a fad and a try to rebrand/rename Electronica and Trip-Hop. It's essentially the same with slightly more subbass added and no lyrics, that doesn't justify to call tracks like that a new genre.

jeremypattison Says:

habitualfuckup Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - When I first heard dubstep I thought it sounded very similar to hip hop, but after paying attention to the music more I realized that it has nothing to with hip hop just some tracks sound that way, not bashing on hip hop but Im in the U.S. and hip hop is pretty much everywhere especially the mainstream shit, I give credit to a sick beat anywhere I hear it hip hop included but dubstep has em beat bass wise and beat wise plus it can be really progressive it can make rave and think at the same time

OpticalFascism Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - None of you can come up with proper counter-arguments, I win.

hell0navi Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Went to a glitch-hop party last night. Also, heard Dubstep for the first time. Music drove me wild. It's JUST what I need. Dark, broken beats that just engulf your entire mind & body. Lovin' this!

IsaacIsaiahMusic Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - People want to get away from musical formulas so much, so why do people feel the need to buy into all the fashion and affected London accent shit?

IsaacIsaiahMusic Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - ..."so I failed on the DVD"... etc.

dubdubdubaholic Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - when i first heard dubstep i thought 'wow' and whenever i hear it again i sill think the same.dubstep realy is the genre of today. some might r and b or some shit like that , if someone says that to you, their lying.

MoogDnB Says:

h1roshi918 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - i just started listening to dubstep like 2 weeks ago and i am really feeling it. It reminds of old school hip hop where they slowed down the pace. I see myself filling up my ipod with this crazy shit.

34512356 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - isn't dubstep just an electronic style evolved from dub which evolved from reggae?i'm not sayin its the same, just that its the same concept..not created by these guys in london.

neuronautvideos Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Check out Addictech com for the best in Dubstep!

FindPeterMartin Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - IMHO, the genre is more evolved from the 2step, garage, and d'n'b, than just reggae-dub. Dubstep applies the elements, (i.e. mixing techniques, etc) characteristic of dub music to the genres from which it evolved, while incorporating a number of other genres as well. It's in this way I would say that "these guys in London" created this genre. There are far more genres "created" in order to sell units, which have less variation from the norm. I'm from the US though, so I'm no expert.
