The dangerous stuff tends to be mercury gas (e.g. mercuric oxide), which damages the nervous system. The effects of the bad stuff are the effects of neurodegeneration, which often involve changes in mood, behavior, and cognition, and can give you a tremor.

Swallowing it has minimal health effects as well, since its absorption in the digestive tract is minimal, it just passes through. I have been living with a sealed vial of mercury in my room for over 10 years, had it in my hands countless times. I'm no more brain damaged than you are ignorant.

This is nothing more than sensationalist bullshit. Unless you don't live in a mercury contaminated area, or breathe in significant amounts of vapor, you have nothing to worry about.

Nov 18, 2008 - I agree with green energy being the way forward, but please be aware that solar panels consume more energy in their manufacture then they ever produce in their life time (look this up). So those panels you are using might save you money, but they cost the planet more. Technoloogy will produce more efficient panels in the future, so perhaps this won't be the case then.
