Nov 18, 2008 - Which 20,000 scientists are you referring to. The 20,000 who say it is happening or the 20,000 who say it isn't?
TheArkhamAngel Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - My views: There are many factors of which we don't know. Possibilities: The cycles of Nature are such that we might not see the 'whole picture'; our time as individuals and as a race are just too short on the planet and we don't have all the data. The Sun! Yes, the Sun.cont.
TheArkhamAngel Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The Earth only has 5% of the original forests that it once had; 5%! I personally think that we're about 5 billion people too many. In a couple hundred years we could get down to 1 billion people and 5 billion trees planted, peacefully. It's just a thought. We're straining our resources to the extreme. Why? Too many people! Think how much Oxygen 7 billion of us loud mouths (yes, me too) are breathing in how much GAS we're releasing into the atmosphere.Just some thoughts.

Nov 18, 2008 - Charlie needs to calm down, he's gonna throw an thrombo...Crichton makes him look like an hysteric...poor man.
g0tt0rque Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - good plan lets all just stop breeding that would be the natural solution........not.someone who understands the environment would know that species compete, kill eachother off, die out themselves... it is constantly changing we just happen to be winning for now.
wresing Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The Earth didn't "originally" have forests at all. But interestingly enough, during the much warmer and wetter Holocene era there were large forests and around twice as much C02 in the air as today. And did you know that productivity declines in old growth forests, and that a young, replanted stand has more trees than an older one. It is because of this that there are more trees in the US today than there were when the settlers arrived.

Nov 18, 2008 - Then let's save the world, starting with you! Just kill yourself for a better tomorrow. You first.
grraadd Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Why that red on the face guy is shouting at Mr Crichton? It is too high blood pressure caused by poor diet or just agitation?Anyway, shouting is a symptom of insecurity :-)
grraadd Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Exactly, plus that horrible manner of interrupting...
TheSwabbie Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I think the guy is rude by interrupting Michael like that. But, getting back to the actual BASIS for the video - Michael is RIGHT ON with his statements. If you listen to him he makes quite a bit of sense. He covers the whole gambit of the global warming theory from its inaccuracy to the reactions of people to it and to each other. A VERY good perspective! I'm sorry to see he has passed away. My prayers to his family. He gave us some great entertainment and will be missed.

Nov 18, 2008 - Sad that this great writer passed away. It sounds like he was a very cool person too. I think he brings up really good points here.
meganmcgeough Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - ironic he talks about cancer here. rip.
osiokonkwo Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Great thinker.
aerobatic Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Sadly, this man's mind has passed into the great unknown. His wise words still could be the antidote to the coming holocaust of global warming catastrophism. I only hope that OBAMA! will see this video before deciding to destroy the economy of These United States.
ShaneSaw83 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Michael Crichton was a very smart man and a talented writer, but he was a writer and not a scientist. I am skeptical of any writer that claims he is right on an issue and 90% of actual scientists are wrong. I think maybe his judgment was somewhat clouded by his conservative ideology. Still, it would be nice to see more hard evidence that we're causing global warming before we do anything too drastic.
jazzbanjobanjoman Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - You must be unaware that he was an oncologist. If you'd done medschool and oncologist training after, you'd find that it's EXTREMELY scientific, and any physician is a bona fide scientist, with exensive training in chemistry, biology and physics. Modern medicine is not hocus-pocus (anymore).
jazzbanjobanjoman Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - He was not a scientist? Excuse me? What is an oncologist? A witch doctor? What do you think they teach during all those years in medschool?Incantations? Do you have any idea of the level of chemistry, biology and physics you have to master? What did you finish: High School? Medchool prerequisite is a BSc degree by the way.

Nov 18, 2008 - Help save the planet. Cork a cow!
natuankur Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - he graduated frm 'HARVARD MEDICAL SCHOOL'...does tht in ne way sound non scientific?!
septip123 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - i really appreciate charlie in this interview. He really challenges Michael.he should get sick more often
septip123 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - 3:25"...i could make a better move."do you know how many people walk around and say, "oh, i could have made a better movie."talk about cop out
gef2712 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Michael Chrichton is famous for the books he has written, but he was like a medical professor or something at an university in first place I think and everytime he wrote a book he worked together with a few dozens important scientists. He was not a writer who became a wannabe-scientist, he was a scientist who used his knowledge to write books with authentic material.
sonictemple7 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The way Charlie Rose is challenging Michael Crichton on the global warming issue is reminiscent of the way the majority take their stance after having seen Al Gore's 'Inconvenient Truth'.
kanalje Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - sonictemple7 That is because It's a fascist movement where the believers will smugly "challenge" their opposition with their regurgitated memes.
PlanetThoughts Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I can see that very few if any people in this discussion have read the scientific papers or the details about those. Still, in the end, how do so many of you know that 20,000 scientists are wrong? Peter Sinclair has scientific data talking about the mini ice-age, global dimming, current warming in Mars and other planets (solar change only explains a tiny fraction of observed warming on Earth) and other factors. I trust scientific data over political posturing any day.
