Nov 18, 2008 - Over the years, Zorn went from being the most original American musician of his time to being the avant-garde's answer to David Sanborn. It's sad.

cleomagoolando Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - What's funny is that David Sanborn played on one of Tim Berne's albums, Diminutive Mysteries (Mostly Hemphill), a single recording whose virtues far exceed most of what could be found on John Zorn's 6 dozen albums.By the way, Zorn was never the most original Ameican musician. With his recent composed work, I think he's finally starting to bloom out of his 'weird-for-the-sake-of-weird' po-mo bullshit period. The endlessly redundant Masada empire seems to be the funding for all that.

cleomagoolando Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Yes!! On top of featuring more of Wolleson's awesome playing, Sex Mob has the excellent Briggan Krauss, a sax player who's only about 100 times more compelling than Zorn.

boatynoh Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - really have to call crap on that statement. he doesn't owe the so called avant-guard anything. he's a gift that just keeps giving. like an air conditioner or a kitten.

gjazz22 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - sandbrn has suprised me a few times I think its funnny people discussing the avant guarde because once you discuss it, its done. Must keep things forward at all times.Zorn sounds better than usual in this concert?????

Toasty1337 Says:

Shuggie5 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - amazing, awesome use of circular breathing

Aiina Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Yes, he uses it in the end of the video, I try to learn it, it's very hard. You have, when you play, to keep air in your cheeks, and at the same time to blow it, and to breathe by nose...My saxophone teacher made me a demonstration, this is very impressive. Non stop playing during a few minutes... Wow, respect.
