Nov 18, 2008 - The only reason the days are gone of groundfighters no longer being dominant is the rule changes, time limits, weight divisions, knees while on the ground, so thus it has become entertainment and a sport now rather than TRUE fighting. Rorion said it himself todays ultimate fighter is not the ultimate fighter, just a tough guy who took advantage of the rules
basedeal Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - They never said it was the best art, but critical to be versed in ground fighting if you were a striker or non striker.
thomas252009 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - lol, looks like me and my ju jit su trainer ! ! !
MuayThaiViking Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - what rules of change? give me some clear examples and WHY graplers benefits more from these ilegal attacks than strikersand who cares what Rorion said? he is a gracie of course he wants to promote gracie jiujitsu as the best 'ultimate fighting stye'dont get me wrong i respect BJJ but it has its limitations (which is why MMA fighters MIX their styles)
blastodermx4 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - dude shaolins monks fight only to defend others. Not like bjj fighters that fight just to make someone feel like a bitch.delucia is just a modern kung fu fighter not a shaolin monk.
syzdaman Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - that dont make no sense, fighting is fighting, so if i were to fight a "shaolin monk" he couldnt fight unless he was defending others?, how bout himself? hmmm?
theonlyEYEBROWKING Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - if every art did ground attack they would be complete. anybody can learn how to punch and kick
rz73df Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I'm Horse Crazy! I teach Crazy Jiu Jitsu!
benbutler15 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - about the best martial art... um dude there is no martial art style that is better than another it just depends on the fighters skill i mean you could have a karate martial artist vs a jeet kon do artist or kick boxer vs savate IT DOESNT MATTER no style is better than another what makes a great fighter is not how good they can master multiple styles and be the most well rounded fighter you can be
BuddhaGod Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yeah.. this is not jason delucia
Ebag1990 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Honestly, it really depends on skill in multiple fighting styles. Jason Delucia got screwed over because he only focused on one kung fu style which was based on longer strikes. real monks study multiple styles and techniques which allowed long and close range which is why people always talk about them and try to compare. That's why people now realize that and created mixed martial arts which takes techniques from multiple arts to give them ways to fight in every situation
Ebag1990 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I honestly would not compare this guy to the monks who created the technique. He's a modern form of it. All modern forms cannot be compared because they didn't spend their lives perfecting it in the Shaolin temples. They can come close but probably isn't a Shaolin styleI'm pretty sure in a real fight, when Royce Gracie had his head locked up, his punches took too long to go into effect. A person with the right training and intent could easily switched his arm positions and snapped his neck.
Vash1202 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Heel stomp to the kidney while person's in your guard is one.Another is elbow strikes to spine (very painful). Strikes to back of head. Heel stomp allows a person who's in bottom of guard to score points and damage if the person on top decides to lay n pray (inefffective ground n pound). When a GJJ practitioner has the rear mount on someone and they turtle up strikes to spine is a strategy to open them up to the choke or you could get TKO victory by hitting back of head...all banned in UFC
tow74 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yeah this doesn't look gay at all. LOL. fucking spics trying to be too legit to quit.
altazor1977 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - c'mon fellows, kung fu expert? royce never got hit in her eyes, throat, balls, and another 132 pressure points of the body... jason delucia knows about dim mak or chin na? i don't think so...
kookkid6969 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - u dont wanna fuck with the Gracies, theyre a crazy family, they all are fucking blackbelt juijitsu masters, i did some lessons at the academy and man are they fuckin nuts, theyre big too
StoneThrowingDevil Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - At ufc 5, Shamrock beat the fuck out of Gracie by as you say, "Laying n' Praying".He simply got on top and headbutted the shit out of Gracie. Royce was lucky there was a time limit, or else, Ken would have headbutted him until he was blind. THE END. Gracie tried his heel to the kidney and palm strikes to the back of the head while Ken was in his guard. Not good enough though. Sometimes the old tricks are the best.Last I checked, rule #1 on the no-no list for UFC is "no headbutting."
kgbheadlock Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - no headbutting rule was added at the same time when gloves were required so at the time he wasn't breaking any rules but that match was one of the key reasons why headbutting became illegal.
dirtyjew1974 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - this is not jason delucia, royce and jason didnt fight until ufc 2 and I think this fight took place in brazil before royce ever fought in the ufc.
elvislee23 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - this is not jason delucia
lozza925 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - bullshit, your saying the guy lost cos he couldn't bite. Yeah right... royce schooled this bitch lmao
Gman6755 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Gracie is like a lethal spider slowly eating it's prey!! No way I would want to fight that guy!!! NO WAY!!! However, true kung-fu cannot really be used in a fight like that because it's true weapons like eye attacks are banned and rightfully so. True martial arts is extremely dirty fighting, even the science of dirty fighting where BJJ is the more effective martil art in competitions. Both are great!
AFGalwayz Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - the dude just got schooled. a true kung fu master or dedicated practitioner would take this as a learning experience and learn wrestling or other forms of grappling to be more prepared next time.
BroomeBlocker2 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Gotta love Gracie video's. Sometimes the fights are good to watch if ya can block out the bullshit from the commentator. His record is 33 wins, 19 losses and 1 draw, yet according to the Gracie commentator, he claims he is undefeated? Royce looked like he had the 15 pound advantage too
syzdaman Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I agree.
