You don't even know that Aikido has huge overlaps in technique with ju-jutsu in it's older forms!! Uke does not 'spring' UNLESS in kata and ONLY then to help avoid injury. Aikidoka are not interested in seriously damaging other aikidoka. If it was no good as you suggest I wonder why the armed forces / police / SAS etc. all incorporate many of its techniques into their fighting systems?!?!

If you're going to disparage aikido you also insult Japanese sword culture. Do you really think you could kick the arse of a Samurai?! Given your poor attitude thusfar I seriously doubt it. Nov 18, 2008 - And there's the problem. IF you were attacked with a knife or sword you've got to use different defences in most other martial arts. But in aikido the defence for a punch is the same as a defence against knife or sword attack and that is an advantage. Aikido has A LOT to do with kenjutsu actually. If you knew even the tiniest amount about O Sensei then you would know his background in it and its influence on aikido kata. Do some research before pretending you know!!
