Nov 18, 2008 - hello, i'm a french and policeman and i thing these technics are very good for my job in the street. simple and very efficace. all fight instructors in france should show us this fighting mode.

Nov 18, 2008 - jkd is more effective because thtas why bruce lee created it the story goes he learned wing chun then in 58' he fought three boxres knocked them out cold the only thing about it was it took minutes and he wanted the fight to take seconds so thus creating a whole new style with taekwn do, silat, grappling, boxing, kempo, and wing chun please comment me to see if i have al the martial arts missing from this

awakenedstream Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - its obvious he didnt learn the complete wing tsun training methods. he was forced to expand his knowledge himself due to a disconnect with his teachers. jkd is mostly wing tsun, fencing, western boxing, with optional jujitsu locking. imo, had he learned all wing tsun training methods, he would have found more than what he did.

Nov 18, 2008 - this guy's very fast, but is he quick? He shows a lot of good attack techniques and Chi Sao, butnot mucho of the other half of the equation, defense. I'd like to see parrying, trapping, evasion, ducking, sidling, blocking demonstrated more. I mean if the other guys experienced it won't be this easy to use these attack techniques without knowing the defensive stuff.

Nov 18, 2008 - this guy is bruce lees cousin XD

Capoeirista81 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Wing Chun is not really meant for MMA. The mentality is totally different. MMA training is for sport, where the fight can last for 25 minutes or more. Wing Chun is meant to end a fight quickly, and lethally if necessary.

vinnikins Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - he's got form alright.

kylekott Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - listen to your self.... "jkd is more effective because thats why bruce lee created it."

zuluboogieno1 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - mos def, certain techniques are used by wing chun are considered illegal in mma - leaving wc at a disadvantage.

TheSexyRevolution Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - What do you think about spending time each week practicing only defensive technique; Then integrating it all into some real live contact sparring?

NoChun Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Sorry, but that argument doesn't ring true. Every technique shown in this video where gear is worn would be legal in MMA: punches, elbows, kicks, etc. The video present them as functional, yet MMA events have been around for 15 years and not a single WC punch can be seen in competition anywhere. When demos and competition don't match, it's nothing more than theorizing and wishful thinking.

novarealm Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Never mind the video, the reason why wing chun punches aren't thrown in MMA is because they lack brute force - i.e. they are unlikely to knock out a tough opponent. WC is designed to temporarily put your opponent off guard so you can deliver a disabling move -throat strike, eye gouge, break an arm, etc. In terms of grappling, a BJJ guy will usually have the upper hand, because his training is focused purely on that aspect. In a street fight, though, wing chun puts you at an excellent advantage.

Raxraptor Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - its not really right jkd is nothing else like ving tsun. Bruce spent 3 years into it and he was not a guy who trained very much. He just created it to piss the chinese of. He was the first who brought ving tsun out from china and that was the thing they dont like. So he created jkd. but this is also very funny because the word jeet kune do is japanise an "do" means woman. And jkd is not 30 difrent styles in one ore something like this its just 3 forms from ving tsun.

Raxraptor Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - its the same like to say its a pill out there which healts everything its such stupid.and of course jkd is effectiv but its not better than ving tsun.

SirMetaKnight6 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - novarealm, i dont know what wing chun you have seen, but that is such bollocks to say that wing chun punches lack power, wing chun punches are by far the most powerful punches in martial arts, have you not heard of the one inch punch? in my school they certainly are anyway, my sifu and the advanced students only have to tap you and you go down.

iliketocrushstones Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - It is apparent that neither of you understood the concept of Jeet Kune Do. First, Jeet Kune Do is Cantonese not Japanese. Secondly, Bruce understood that one cannot bind oneself to "the way" or "gospel truth" Jeet Kune Do has no form or way, so it can assume all forms and all ways. Jeet Kune Do was a concept Bruce applied to his style of Martial Art. He never taught his way to people, but taught the concept so others could develop their own style.

garistaken Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - actually if you look into wing chun it has alot of blocks that can go into great grapples. also wing chun punches harder. take this equation. someone swings a bat at your head (a normal punch) now thats easy to doge and its a glance shot. now someone uses the butt end straight at your face (wing chun punch) harder to doge, hurts alot more. plus look into masters of it. that one inch punch from kill bill is an actual wing chun move. on a video on here a master knocks a guy back like 5feet with it

darkgreensoldier666 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - it looks like mma influenced wing chun

lifthands1 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - what the f**k do you know, if you read about bruce he trained from the moment he woke until he went to bed. have you not watched any kind of documentary about him. he did what nature does used what works & discarded what doesn't. that pissed everyone else off because he trained for real life situations using the most effective and easiest way possible and if something works then use it thats why he was so rounded. he wasn't fixed he had an amazing ability to adapt and it worked simple as that

shootyourhead Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Your WT is very nice, i like it :)

oasisspirit Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - looks like it but.. mma organizations just came up wingchun... 100s of years already
