Nov 18, 2008 - "if you do decide to multiply that outdated number by two"Well infinity is not a number, you cannot multiply it. 2(infinity) = 2(infinity) it doesn't get reduced any further. So if you could put it into a calculator it would simply return what you put in."but in reality land it's a paradox."Depends on use, you can get some things you could call "infinite" though it depends on what you mean. You can circumnavigate a sphere infinitely for example.
Mohammets Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I wasn't so much arguing you, just so you know. Just being stoned an screwing with an idea.Picking apart this statement:"You can circumnavigate a sphere infinitely"The "You" part bothers me.A sphere is circumnavigatable into infinity, sure. But it can't be done by any kind of finite being in any kind of finite universe with problems like time on it's hands, so it's really not circumnavigatable into infinity....Right?Just kidding, fact-master. I understand what you're getting at.

Nov 18, 2008 - The idea of Santa Claus may have been inflated into something rather false, but that didn't mean the dude didn't exist! And like Elvis, he enjoyed giving junk to poor people. They exist(ed) very much in the same universe as far as I'm concerned. I dunno how someone could really argue that.
saintkamus14 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yeah.. there's a "little" bit of difference here. There is plenty of evidence of the moonlanding. All kinds of evidence in fact. The only way to know about the "ressurection" is from the bible or stories written using the bible as reference. It will never cease to amazme how people think the evidence for events like those is equivalent. It's not.
saintkamus14 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Evolution happens. If evolution happens, guess what?Yes, evolution is a fact. it happens. natural selection is the theory that describes how evolution happens. When the evidence mounts up to such an overwhelming degree you can no longer just call it a theory with loads of evidence behind it, it's far easier to realize that if something happens, it means it's a fact. Richard Dawkins has said numerous times evolution IS a fact, and that natural selection is the theory that explains it.
saintkamus14 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Agreed.People, get a clue. Facts, like evolution would be a mistery if we didn't have a theory to explain it.Evolution is a fact, but with out a theory to explain it we would know little or nothing about it.Facts are a dime a dozen, they are boring and plentyful. (like say the fact that water boils at a certain temperature, etc.)It takes a theory to understand why those facts are the way they are.So, in science:Theory>fact.
saintkamus14 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - You allmost answered your own question.Yes, there is a creator, your dad, your dad's dad. Now, repeat this for millions of generations untill you're a single cell organisim. It was a very long and bumpy road... please don't undermine it by saying some inteligent being started all that. it took a LOT MORE than that.

Nov 18, 2008 - Guys.. If any of you guys have a link for the transcript of this debate..pls reply to my comment. Too bad that I am at work and cannot listen to this..
ZillaRocks Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Your dad did not do any creating. All he did was fertilize the egg that was already in existence with sperm that was already in existence which turned into you. That is the most ignorant thing I've ever read.
Sarn0 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Where did the Universe come from for the cell? Where did the conditions come for the cell? And the most interesting question of them all: why do organisms evolve into living beings? Sorry, but your logic doesn't grasp the situation overall, but merely the process of evolution. And even the process itself is a mystery which in no way disproves the existence of God.
YamaniNetsi Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Great debate, great arguments by both sides! I enjoyed it.
kamaujackson811 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - So spiritual regeneration is not real? Something experienced by EVERY real Christian from 35AD on....
Axirru Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Lie
kamaujackson811 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - You're unregenerate....of course you think it's a lie.
mattj6o Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - just because that cant be explained YET that doesnt prove the existence of god
Grak70 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Ignorance of the truth is not an argument in itself.
hackenbollox Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - One problem here: Organisms are living beings. It's a bit difficult to proceed beyond that point. In any event, of course we can't prove the non-existence of god, and nor do we have to. The burden of proof is on you. What we can say is that, in light of ALL the evidence, god is unnecessary and extremely unlikely.
HoldemDB9 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I'm sick and tired of religious people debating with Atheists about whether or not there is a God/creator of the universe. We are never going to find an answer to that so the argument is pointless. I have no problem with someone believeing in God, but to believe in a certain God is pathetic. Even if someone proves that there is a God, you cant give it a name, or say that it had a son called Jesus Christ. Religion is a joke and Lennox was absolutely crushed in this debate.
iswhatyoubelievetrue Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - God can be shown to exist. But your right in saying that we can't know anything about Him. To do that He would need to reveal Himself in some way to tell us about Himself. He has done so in the Bible. Historical accuracy and fulfilled prophecy show that God authored it. See Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53, the detail in these prophecies in unmistakable. You may have your arguments and misunderstanding about how God describes Himself in the Bible, but it doesn't change reality.
Trenaur Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - iswhatyoubelievetrue....lol
tastybuddha Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - It is not just religion that is put down (and I honestly find all major religions extremely faulty and lacking, but clearly appraciate the spiritual side of existence), but basically anything that cannot be measured or explained scientifically. It seems to me that it is really only 2nd level scientistis and the media who discount even the possibility of something we cannot explain scientifically.
tastybuddha Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - All the greatest physicists of the 20th century, from Einstein to Plank to the whole lot of quantum physicists, understood very well that there is a lot more to reality and consciousness and matter and the universe than we might ever to even begin to comprehend.

4c00h Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Is this the same bible that says the earth is 6000 yrs old and that we lived with dinasaurs?
Mohammets Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - That's a mind-bender. If you enter your infinity number into your imaginary calculator, your number will already be outdated because infinity has added more to itself by the time you press the multiply button. And even if you do decide to multiply that outdated number by two, that's still just part of the process of TRUE infinity and is therefore canceled out... INTO INFINITY.In imagination land maybe it's possible, but in reality land it's a paradox.
