I am a salsero who has been meaning to learn the basic salsa percussion for a long time... it will really help my dancing and understanding of the musica.One really stupid question... why are congas sold (and played) in pairs? Can you play the basic salsa/cha tumbao rhythm just with one conga? Is the second conga just to give variation?Mucho gracias! Thank you very much for your instructional videos... they are great!

Nov 18, 2008 - thats nasty man, really nice. I'm wondering how you really perfect the slap hit. I play congas and really just hit the rim (while muted) to get the slap. Yours seem so much better. Also, when I slap my hand doesnt stay on the head. Is it supposed to?

Nov 18, 2008 - lol, thanks bro. And as far as the slap, look at my other video to see the best way to perfect it. Dont feel bad though because a lot of people do it the way you do because they dont know any better, but trust me, once you get it this way you wont even have to mute it with the other hand!...And yes, it should stay on the head...Thanks, and any more questions then feel free to ask!

Nov 18, 2008 - Gracias Hermano, en 30 anos por toda Cuba y otros cuantos rodando por ahí, nunca vi ensenar las congas de una manera tan precisa y efectiva. Bajate algo sobre bongos u otros instrumentos de percusion latina, que seguro te lo van agradecer en muchos rincones del planeta.
