Nov 18, 2008 - What an excellent piece. One of my favorite pieces of Rachmaninov. :)

Nov 18, 2008 - You are stupid. He's not claiming that he learns a piece solely by listening to it. In fact, one of the first things I do when I decide that I'm going to learn a new piece is gather as many recordings and performances as I can and listen to them so much that I know the ins and outs of the piece from a compositional standpoint. Then come the tireless hours of practice, mastering the technique and working on your own interpretation.

Nov 18, 2008 - love this song! i just turned 16 today btw! I've been practicing this for about a month and i'm recording this for my college resume next week. everytime i practice this seriously i would get really sweaty and tired xD
s3xyasiann Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - however i don't like the way he plays the middle, slower part. I prefer playing it a tiny bit slower, using more rubato, and bringing out the melody more. but then again he's a professional player and i'm just a student!

Nov 18, 2008 - This is for WENCHINGTON....I have been playing for 43 years, and have been a very successful concert pianist and have taught over 400 students, how about you? Everyone has their own learning style, if you don't have anything constructive to say... don't say anything at all.... did your mommy not teach you that????? As I continue to listen to Gilels....endlessly..........

Nov 18, 2008 - WENCHINGTON--How long have you spent criticizing this piece? Your comments go way back, and frankly, I think all those comments are crap. You obviously have no idea on what is music.
RichardKastleMusic Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Oh, I liked Gilels. The Communists killed him with their terrible hospitals. He was a friend of mine and he worshipped me. I always said to him "Emil Grigorievich, you play magnificently, and you're a real man, unlike the girl Richter." He always liked that.I play this piece with more majesty, but I have a slight respect for E.G.G.'s performance.
WENCHINGTON Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - "on what is music?" "on what music is." Think about it.
WENCHINGTON Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Excuse me barokajin, I have been playing piano for 100 million bazillion years.

Nov 18, 2008 - i was introduced to rachmanioff and gilels not that long ago but i fell in love with rachmaninoff's music when i heard gilels play opus 3 no.2 in c#- and i am now playing it as a result, i first heard this song today and now i want to play nothing except rachmaninoff, thanks for these great recordings
Elsweyr666 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - 2:56, First Beat of that bar, whether some 7th Augment or something, does not sound very Rachmaninoff. But who am i to say, Gilels Is an amazing pianist, can someone confirm ts not a mistake.
DavidScorcelletti Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - WENCHINGTON.......100 million bazillion years? I hardly think so. Your language, "suck" is a very young crowd foul mouth... not the educated english I would expect from someone that has played for ALL those years....you are sooo missing the whole point of this recording...
WENCHINGTON Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I do believe that no one cares about your inneffective ways of learning piano.
