QUT adjunct professor and internationally renowned documentary filmmaker Mike Rubbo, addresses QUT's Vice Chancellor, Peter Coalkdrake, Michael Noonan (PhD candidate) and the two academics (Gary Maclennan & John Hookham) who were suspended after speaking out against Noonan's PhD thesis (Laughing at/with the Disabled) and associated film project. From the start of the affair, Rubbo has tried to play a mediating role between the parties concerned and is involved in trying to work out a solution.

Nov 18, 2008 - Good on you mate, your a champion !!!! i support you 100% as a QUT student I'm ashamed to associate myself with Peter Coaldrake and the pathetic antics of Michael Noonan... sorry to say as well this does not help recnciliation and DOES NOT support the reconciliation statement on QUT's very own website... (in respect to indigenous people).. as for "laughing at the disabled"... what a croc of shit that film is... at any other Uni Noonan would have been immediately kicked out and not welcomed back
