FraserJNicholas Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - It's like a train.Huh, Americans.
welshalex1 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Its a train that goes quite fast and goes under the English channel to France, so basically goes under the sea.
houlala16 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - TGV,eurostar, thalys... all of this train are french tech from alstom.
pdmcgann222 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - You're really a dick. She's obviously not been on it before and is attempting to find out what it's like. Tell us, what's the Staten Island like? You probably don't know. But we wouldn't fault you and your fellow compatriots for not knowing that. Asshole.
pdmcgann222 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The Eurostar is awesome. I've taken it from London to Paris and vice-versa and it's a great way to see the countryside and is a very comfortable trip. The new St. Pancras station will be open for when you go and the trip will be just over two hours long instead of the 3 hours that it's previously taken. You'll love it.
FraserJNicholas Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Staten Island is is very nice. I am an Art Director by trade so it's gallery's and museums really impress me but apart from that it's well...It was all farm land 'till the 60's.And the Eurostar will soon be picking up it's speed through the UK to match the 180mph that it does throughout the continent.

Nov 18, 2008 - Hi, laurenlovesmark: you can tell from this video just how fast (186 mph), smooth and quiet this excellent train is. Economy seating is great, but 1st Class is luxurious. And now that the beautiful St. Pancras station is open, the line all the way to London is high-speed all the way. I live in S. California, and I wonder what kind of idiocy has suppressed the construction a State, let alobne a National High-Speed System; our freeways are mostly expensive parking lots.
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - laurenlovesmark: So, when you finally have the good fortune to ride this train, the dedicated High-Speed line all the way between Paris-Nord to London St. Pancras will have been operating for seven months. Check out some of the other excellent videos of High-Speed trains in France, Italy, Germany & Japan, and the Maglev in Germany & Shanghai. Bon Voyage!
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yeah, pdmcgann222: I concur.
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Hello, FraserJNicholas: As an Art Director, it might be useful for you to check on your use of apostrophes, and perhaps proof-read your comments before posting. The occasional typo can easily slip one by, and can be excused — I make 'em too, but ... Please, get your apostrophes right!!!
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - FraserJNicholas: I highly recommend the book "Eats Shoots & Leaves — The Zero Tolerance Approach to Punctuation", by Lynne Truss, published in the U.S. by Gotham Books. 1st U.S. printing April 2004; ISBN 1-592-40087-6. ... Or is it "Eats Shoots, & Leaves"? ... or is it "Eats, Shoots, & Leaves"? ... You will be amused as well as instructed!
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - laurenlovesmark: If you enter: St. Pancras to Paris Eurostar, in the YouTube search field, you will find a number of amateur videos all showing the new line which was inaugurated November 14, just under a month ago; it is on this train and from/to this station you will be travelling in June — I hope you have a lovely trip!
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - laurenlovesmark: There are also some pro and semi-pro videos — some are somewhat tacky, but they all convey some of the sense of how fast, quiet, and smooth the jouney is; I hope that your experience will be such that you'll become an ardent advocate for an all-out effort to implement a National High-Speed Rail and Maglev project for the whole of the United States!
AlaricPether Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Its not just the US. Eurostar is as fast as the UK is going to get. The British government and rail operators aren't willing to pump the in funds needed to build high speed lines through out the country. We only got 300kph lines in Kent because it was an Anglo French project.
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yes, AlaricPether: This is indeed disgraceful; it is beacuse of the filthy & evil "philosophy" of the so-called English "enlightenment" (anything but) — of Locke, Hobbes, A. Smith, J. Bentham et al., which, despicably expanded thru the British (Brutish) & Dutch East India Companies (Private Imperial Ownership Oligarchy), then updated via Friedman/Von Hayek/Thatcher, remakes of the "market" a tyrannical god. Break the back of this evil system & we can then build HSR/Maglev.
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - AlaricPether: Let me amend that: there will be no need to "break the back" of the imperial oligarchy; it is, as we can see in broad daylight, self-destructing before our very eyes. It is only to be hoped that the ongoing world-financial crash will not drag us all down with it.
Sqaaak Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - AlaricPether (Cont): If sane & decent minds prevail, and the supine, flaccid and appeasing U.S. Congress finds its spine and sinew, it will be realized that only the restoration of the Republican Party to the Abraham Lincoln policy outlook, and the restoration of the Democratic Party to the policy outlook of Franklin Delano Roosevelt, will suffice to save our Republic.
nagamochi Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - This is the best video for me about the Euroster.
