Nov 18, 2008 - I play with fingers and actually feel very awkward with a pick. Pick is IMO really only good for Jason-style solos. For Cliff-style shredding IMO fingering is much better (well Cliff knew it ;)). IMO it gives you more freedom over the instrument. On guitar you can tap notes and play faster with a pick, since strings are more close to each other. You can't do that on a bass, at least not properly, so fingering is usually easier. It just takes time to get used to, especially if you're used to pick
