Nov 18, 2008 - It's not an MT-643 it says it has a New Process 4-spd. which could be either.

Nov 18, 2008 - Love the 79's one cause I was born in 79,2 because they lost the ugly round headlights. But the Deeeetroit sounds awesome Make some more longer clips please.

Nov 18, 2008 - If it was up to me I would stick with the manual transmission. Our old Seagrave with it's 6V-53T, Fuller 5-speed overdrive, and 6:1 rear used to top out at 55 MPH, which is plenty for driving around town. But I guess if you have a lot of highways in your area and you want it to go faster then what the hey, it's YOUR truck.

Nov 18, 2008 - That's one mean ass sounding Dee-troit.The harder you run a 2 stroke, the better they run.

Nov 18, 2008 - Turbo doesnt sound like its pushing a whole lot of boost. 13 maybe 15 psi? Needs a super 60 trim. lol.
BigChief427 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Is there something wrong with your light bar. It will rotate a few time, and then stop. Just wondering. Long live the Detroit Diesel.
j45007 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yeah that sounds like the 6V-Detroit all right! Good video.

Nov 18, 2008 - So this is a 2-stroke Diesel??? It does sound awsome!!
scdevon Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yes.Detroit is known for 2-stroke Diesels.Bad for the planet. Good for the ears.

Nov 18, 2008 - Where is this?
75LS1Vega Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - WE are in SE Wisconsin, 30 miles south of Milwaukee. The videos were taken in winer of '08, we got a boatload of snow last winter and used the truck multiple times to plow our shop lot and our rented parking lot!!
75LS1Vega Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Lightbar is 30 years old and pretty much junk, too cheap to buy new one!!!
Xx69roadrunnerxX Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I know what ya mean, I live in the NW area of the Lower pennisula of Michigan. Lake effect snow it a bitch!
RDG484 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - sweet motor. do you have any idea what she redlines at or what rpms it goes through in this vid?
75LS1Vega Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Thanks, we like it too :) Motor redlines at 2800 RPM(I belive)and is up against the governor for most of that clip, that's were the 2 stroke Detroit's like it at!!! We never had a tach on it, but when I get the 4L80E in it, I will have some method of seeing what RPM it is doing!!!
andoverpunx Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Very cool, and thanks for the fast response. You know, I had a feeling it was turning slower than it actually sounds; maybe 2-strokes sound twice as fast as 4-strokes?
75LS1Vega Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - They sound like they are going twice as fast as they actually are because the engine is firing on every stroke of the piston compared to every other stroke in the 4 stroke engine!
RDG484 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The 6V-53T we had in our old Seagrave fire truck red-lined at 2600.
ClassicTVFan82 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Probably SAE #2. All the MT-643s use that bellhousing type.
