Nov 18, 2008 - Hmmm. There's nothing 'wrong' with this as such - they both sing well and the set is good, so is the orchestra etc. But I feel it is somehow a bit flat (I mean flat in the atmospheric sense, not the musical sense). I can't explain why but it just is, which is shame. There are much better renditions of this great duet elsewhere on Youtube.

Nov 18, 2008 - It's probably Marcello's unnecessary mustache

CCMBaritone Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - I have to agree that there is something lacking here. Perhaps it just didn't translate from the video, but it is just lacking that something special. What wonderful voices though!! I saw Troy Cook in Pearl Fishers and what an exciting sound live. Fantastic baritone!!

Nov 18, 2008 - Their pianissimos do not retain the line of voice, ending abruptly without finesse because these youngsters are taught to sing with power rather than artistry indicative of the Golden Age of Singing. Gigli, Battistini are good examples
