Nov 18, 2008 - What the angry man should have done is register with the TPS(telephone preference screening service,which makes it illegal to contact him (all telemarketers have to use this list) and its punishable with a 5 grand fine if broken. The fact that he is ex-directory doesnt matter,his no. could have been sold by a credit card company,or from competitions etc.and not ticking the box to not be contacted,he hasnt got a leg to stand on. What he did will not stop the calls- his wife could answer next time

I have been inundated with calls from BT (UK) about a 12-month contract offer after I complained as I was ex-directory I got loads of automated calls telling me they could not talk to me right now and could phone this number to be taken off the list, I have to contact them to be taken off their list, I dont think so. An agency phoned my number I pay for using MY name, what right have they to abuse that information. Good one.

Nov 18, 2008 - To get taken off telemarketers call lists, when they ring, make sure you gather their company name, and then make sure you say atleast twice you want to be removed from their call list, and not to ring again, then if they do ring again under the same company name, you can legally sue, been done before, can claim thousands.
