But think about this - originally Muslim women covered to differentiate themselves from women from over groups, so that they would go unmolested as Believers (this goes for the Prophet's (PBUH) wives because some of the men were harassing them) - if we create a world where women are not treated as objects or harassed, is this still needed?

Nov 18, 2008 - ALSO, if the veil is viewed as a part of modesty, many women (including Muslim women) do not wear the veil as so not to draw attention to themselves and thus to retain their humility in western states were veiled women are stared at even harder. The veil is also a symbol of unity and a symbol to the outside world of their connection to God. However, if a woman is secure in her faith, why does she need to proclaim it?
