Nov 18, 2008 - This song is an insult to Puerto Rican women. If a man ever sings that song in front of me, I'd be insulted. If Maria's skin was darker, Tony wouldn't have fallen in love with her in the first place considering the fact that the majority of Puerto Ricans are conscious about skin color for economic status (not to sound racist since I'm not, but it's true).

Nov 18, 2008 - i understand many of the points youre making. in many non white communities, part of what is seen as beautiful is lighter skin and fairer features. girls in Samoa often shade from the sun to stop getting tanner, darker whereas someone like me will be out w.o. sunscreen and risking skin cancer to get tanned more

Nov 18, 2008 - FYI, they aren't the ONLY triple threats in the world today. I don't think it should be re-made, especially with two pop-y teen "icons" that have already been in three movies together. It would take away from the whole thing. Nobody could see the story involved because they'd just be swooning over Zac and Vanessa.
