Nov 18, 2008 - The audio is simple, just run a cable from the audio jack on the casio to the line-in on your soundcard then select the line-in from the input drop down box in one of the mixer channels. To use the casio's MIDI with your PC you'll need a MIDI to USB box. I got one for £25. It came with two midi cables (one for in, one for out) a USB cable and a the box itself. It installs on windows automatically and all you have to do is select the output port for it in FLStudio and activate the input. :)

Nov 18, 2008 - This patch is custom as I state in the video, not an edit of the preset. I am using both oscillators, you need to edit both the filters (they are acctually waveshapers hence the name 'DCW', the CZs don't have filters). If you are a synth noob you should've gotten an easier synthesizer (like an SH-201), 80s digital synths are very complicated. If you want the patch data-sheet send me your email. It would also benefit if you searched for and read the manual using a search engine, it helps alot.

Nov 18, 2008 - I have printed the manual and I'd had the synth for about 2 days when I asked you about this sound. I only use the CZ-101 as flavouring for a couple of songs. I know some basic stuff about synthesis but I haven't really got as much time to study the CZ-101 as I'd like to have. I'd appreciate the patch data sheet and I'll send you my email.

Twenty five-odd years ago I played many Casios (which led to a Hammond M-100/Leslie, MiniMoog, today's amazing Korg CX-3...), but never played a CZ. Thought about a CZ-1000 for a time but no. I love the microKORG - what they put into that tiny package is amazing. How would a CZ-101 sound next to a MK? "Jump" sounded great BTW!

The CZs can do sounds the microKORG cannot and vice-versa, it all depends on what sounds you want. The CZs sound very unique and spacey because it's synthesis method (P.D.) is unique only to the CZs, the microKORG sounds like a typical early 80s analouge, nothing special. You're better buying a real vintage anlouge.When comparing build quality the CZ101 wins easily, it doesn't feel as cheap and nasty.
