Nov 18, 2008 - I am sorry to disagree! Although Alex's guitar became more "atmospheric" rather than in your face, there are some really great songs and solos during their '80's and '90's albums. His chording and sense of space and melody really developed during that period so much that when playing the older tunes he reinvented many of them with different approaches, chord inversions, etc. Believe me, having seen them 16 times they just keep getting better and better, especially live. But it's all good!
