Nov 18, 2008 - This grass roots movement could push for an increase in sales tax. Why are the property owners penalized with taxes and footing the bulk of the states bills such as roads, fire, police? Why can't all of our visitors and non-property owners who use the services help out though sales tax. The raise in rate would be very minor to EVERYONE if it were spread out to EVERYONE. This is more fair for EVERYONE using these services to help pay for them and not just out of the pockets of the property owners.

Nov 18, 2008 - I guess its time to change careers then isn't it. We all have choices now. I don't equate a firefighter to a lawn worker. I don't equate a law maker to a grocery bagger either. Maybe we should pay those individuals 100k a year?
Jagsguy01 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - How about the 2500 I have paid to fedral taxes already this year? One paycheck and shazzaaam already I have paid almost what I pay in a year for property tax. How about this for a head line, now this is what I'm talking about here are the real crooks......Allstate barred from writing new auto policies Here is where the real problems start!

Nov 18, 2008 - hurray for McCarty!! finally the state gets it right!!
JBFlorida Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Yoo still have not addressed my Rubio is such a hero and this property tax is such a great idea for local government when Rubio and the state lawmakers have not reduced sales tax, gas tax or anything in their revenue stream one bit. Want to help all people in Florida without gutting local services ?.....cut or get rid of the state sales tax. And why is Rubio fighting the $ 50 million per year the Seminole Tribe wants to give to Florida for their right to have slot machines ?
cutpropertytaxesnow Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - JB...please be constructive in your arguments. I do not mind posting opposing views, but costantly complaining isn't constructive...it is destructive.
JBFlorida Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - How constructive is cut your property taxes now ?....so anything other than a pat-on-the-back for Rubio is complaining ? I guess you STILL won't address whether cutting other taxes is a good idea or not....
cutpropertytaxesnow Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - JB...cutting ALL taxes is a good idea!! This was not Rubio's idea. This is a grassroot coalitions idea...Marco Rubio is just endorsing it. Cutting taxes whether it is real estate taxes, sales taxes, gas taxes or federal income taxes will help create jobs and put more of our hard earned dollars in OUR pocket.

Nov 18, 2008 - A corporation's primary goal is to make money. Government's primary role is to take a big chunk of that money and give it to others. Government has been getting bigger and bigger, and taking more and more. As a self employed citizen I have to work harder and harder to earn enough to keep up with their growing demands. The more I earn, the more I am penalized by various local state and federal governments in the private sector. Cut Taxes Now!!!

Nov 18, 2008 - Everyone wants services but nobody wants to pay. The "government" is us! We want good roads, police protection, paramedics, firefighters, libraries, parks, good schools - the list goes on and on. The animals in the shelter are already being killed off because there are not enough funds to give them vet care and to get them adopted. Firefighters are being laid off. When the developers and builders push something, it's very suspicious.
GSPUBLIC Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - As a self-employed person, I want to pay for all the services that we are getting, and enjoy the freedoms our forefathers fought and died for. It is the mismanagement by government with the funds they levy and receive that I cannot stand for. The special interest groups have created havoc with the system. Developers are entrepreneurial, which was a concept our nation was founded on. They create jobs, create revenue streams, and build our infrastructure and cities.
cutpropertytaxesnow Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Bowling...think about it...if we CUT spending then our government budgets will do DOWN and we sould spend MORE on services. The problem is that they are spending our money FOOLISHLY and they are not good stewards of OUR MONEY. Its all a GAME...they government does not know HOW to operate EFFICIENTLY, so they try to SCARE us with service cuts.

Nov 18, 2008 - High taxes are you nuts? Try $50.00 per 1000 assesed value! Lockport NY!
sqladmin99 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - Hey, you wanted "W"'s economic policies, you got them. Inflation in the last 7 years under Bush is ridiculous. Property taxes are the last thing to keep the working class out of a house in Florida. And FL was under Jeb Bush when these taxes increased. Anyone feel compelled to put another Bush in the White House, well, we can't afford another Bush family member as President.
GSPUBLIC Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - "W"'s First economic policie was to cut taxes!!! A Great vision from our elected official. One all city and State government officials should follow. However the policies following that had the opposite economic benefit. Start a second war, create another huge branch of government, create laws that sound appealing but really hurt more people than they help. It feels like 50% of the country is employed by the government and the other 50% has to pay. Give us Small Government Please!!!

Nov 18, 2008 - Great video thanks. Maybe a brief explanation of confusing Amend 1 would have also helped. Let's get it done - cut taxes or just get rid of them all together. Go Ron Paul 2008. +4
n310ea Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - One thing I don't like about property taxes is that, although the property is yours, if you don't pay your property taxes every year, the government will take your land away from you. With that being so, you're actually renting the land from the government.
rehwwe Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - everyone wants to be rich, this is the goal in most people life these days.and forget everything else in life.
robert0380 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - The message that doesn't get conveyed with asking for a cut in taxes is that government revenue goes UP when taxes are cut, not down. The relationship is very dynamic. Usually a cut in taxes benefits government and the people.

sakiusad Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - I agree that property taxes need to be cut, but I would like to see that word tax taken out of the equation. Call it town rates or something else, not taxes. I think that most Americans would agree with me if property taxes were taken out and town rates were installed. Paying more taxes just doesn't help morale a lot.

sunnygirl213 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - You're paying "taxes" because you don't have title only a deed. You only have a deed because you stepped into Maritime Admiralty commercial law when you borrowed against that land.Your "taxes" are the fee to use another party's property.
ben5017 Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - When the founder's of America argued about the sources of income for the new government, the agreed upon commerice and tariffs!Their argument about the taxation of private property (residential) tax was why did we fight the revolutionary war if they are going to be subjects to their govt leasing property from the govt.Fact is property tax on Residential property is illegal via our founders because we were meant to be free to actually own something, not lease it from elitism! time for revolt
cutpropertytaxesnow Says:
Nov 18, 2008 - JB, you are SEVERELY misinformed!!!. Government and their wages are WAY out of line with the private sector. When the best jobs in the county ARE COUNTY JOBS we are DOING SOMETHING WRONG!! In my county the AVERAGE government worker makes almost $10,000 more than the private sector and...they get benefits, health care and pensions also. We are not trying to eliminate the government, we are trying to right size the government.
