Jul 7, 2008 - Uhm, no. This song is writtem about the book of revelations. I mean, seven angels with seven trumpets? Seven and seven is how it's set up. AND "Who's that shouting John the Revelator, all he ever gives us in pain." Is how the whole book is about death, and nothing positive like the rest of the bible. AND how it came out of nowhere, and no one believes it to be true, "put him on the stand..."I love the power of this song. Not the words, how loud and powerful it is

Legendfin Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - "Who's that shouting John the Revelator, all he ever gives us in pain." Is how the whole book is about death, and nothing positive like the rest of the bible." I just about choked on my falafel there. Did you actually suggest that the rest of the bible is all positive? Please tell me you were just making a generalization.

Jul 7, 2008 - Depeche Mode; an extremely talented band! I have always admired their musical arrangements and compositions, and have followed them closely throughout the years. Disappointingly, I have been irked by some of the things they choose to sing about. It seems that Gore and Gahan have struggled with their views with Christ Jesus and what morality is.(please refer to my next post)

Jul 7, 2008 - As an artist myself I understand the desire for the freedom of expression, and everyone is entitled to an opinion. However, with "John the Revelator", they have seriously twisted what the Apostle John was writing about. The book of Revelation is not only talking about death, but the coming of the Christ and his Triumphant return in saving those who have repented of there sins, and to bring judgment to those who reject the saving knowledge of the gospels.(please refer to my 3rd post)

thissideofthescreen Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - (my third post)Revelation is revealing the promise of the new life for those who realize that they were once sinners, and have now accepted Gods forgiveness. This is good news! "...He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away." - Revelation 21:4It sure doesn't sound negative to me. I hope these men will find their Salvation in Christ soon!
