Jul 26, 2008 - I am not a political analyst nor an expert in international politics, so my question may sound naive to you, but here it is anyway: How come U.S. and Britain have the right to nuclear capabilities while Iran and Syria do not? Who or what entity made such a determination, and on what basis?

Jul 26, 2008 - Because the U.S. and Britain, and Israel (whom the US has provided with hundreds of nuclear weapons) would have their national interests threatened (immense corporate profits through oil sales, reconstruction, military contracts) at risk if countries they wanted to exploit were able to effectively defend themselves. Scott Ritter, UN weapons inspector, has written about this, and the US & Isreali desire for REGIME CHANGE in the Middle East since the late 90s.
irkone Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - The US and Israel, mainly, act unilaterally. Through the NPT (nuclear proliferation treaty), every country has the right to attain nuclear energy for peaceful purposes. The IAEA (international atomic energy agency) had repeatedly inspected Iraq and is doing the same with Iran, unable to find any evidence of a nuclear weapons program. Though, regardless of the facts, the US and Israel insist there is a secret program hidden within Iran.
kevinwongstiffy Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - That is so unfair. I guess in this present world "might is right", i.e., whoever has the nukes can exploit other nations. The playing field is defintely not level. What do you think can be done to level the playing field without nuclear proliferation? My personal answer to this is for the U.S. to revamp its unjust foreign policy; what's yours?
irkone Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - That's the ONLY solution. Except those in power (corporations) are reaping ASTOUNDING wealth from these policies, including cheap labor, rebuilding infrastructure, military, oil etc. Democrats and Republicans are of the same corporate party, with their corporate sponsors owning the major media outlets and our sources of information. You can find it easily online googling "corporate media ownership."
irkone Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Independent media networks, such as Pacifica radio - which broadcasts Democracy NOW! - are in debt, risk being shut down, and face much opposition from corporate pressure. It is through these channels that news is presented dissenting from the normal mainstream corporate viewpoint. Somehow, I don't know how, but the American people need to come to their senses and change policy before a foreign power does....
irkone Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - However, if it takes a foreign power to help American people to alter their own government policy, so be it. The people aren't falling for the bullshit as easily, since that masquerade with Iraq and WMDs. For example, Venezuela's Hugo Chavez has visited poor neighborhoods of the Bronx, providing subsidized oil and supplies. This charity by a foreign "dictator" as they like to call him, is barely given any press coverage, and if it is, is declared solely political.

Jul 26, 2008 - it's not yankees collectively. the CIA and our higher government echelons are responsible for the indefinite world peril and atrocities. you have every right to be furious, but let me stress on the fact americans do not support this blatant subversion en masse. it's only the propagandized jingoists and puppets. we must fight for a better world and disintegrate the american juggernaut!

Jul 26, 2008 - ¿¿Whattt???, "¿Pinochet saved Chile?"... or "Pinochet saved... U.S. economy in Chile", that's true.
magickmatt138 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Pinochet saved Chile from becoming a Communist Prison. Ask a farmer, business owner in Chile if he liked Allende. The bougie liberal elite, and the very poor supported Allende--the people were begging for the military to take power in a coup.
binomio12345 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - "the people were begging for the military to take power in a coup"... or "Washington were begging for the military to take power in a coup"; For persons so misinformed as you, those who believe all the lies that tell Washington, "The (¡ufff!)Defender Of The Democracy And The Freedom ", I recommend to you the video "War on Democracy - US backed 1973 coup in Chile", or all videos of "War On Democracy"; God Fucking Latin America... for your benefit.
magickmatt138 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - Of course the US gave Pinochet the tools neccessary for the coup. Tell me something, was it good that Allende was turning a once properous nation such as Chile into another East Germany?

Jul 26, 2008 - 1 - Do you not feel shame on having admitted that his country supports coups d'état?; This is the class of "democracy" and "freedom" that his governments preach?; Obvious!, certainly!, since his country does not receive these "lessons of democracy", it seems to you VERY GOOD that the small countries if receive these "lessons"; If the Soviets had done a coup d'état in his country, you had said "VERY GOOD", I suppose; You have demonstrated the sad reality of "the survival of the fittest" (Darwin).
binomio12345 Says:
Jul 26, 2008 - 2 - What?, Chile 1960's=prosperous country?, When?; That lie!; You believe that Latin Americans "countries" (as Puerto Rico) that are "friends" (or "new colonies") of Washington (as the ultradeveloped Colombia, third economy of the world, poor China!) are lands that sailing in the sea of the prosperity, enjoying the kindness of the (North) American way of democracy; Certainly, this happens... in your imagination; Or you are hypocritical, or you are terribly misinformed; I choose the first thing.
