Jul 7, 2008 - Never seen so much cr*p posted about a video. There are two species of Lyrebird in Oz, the Superb Lyrebird & Albert's Lyrebird. The Superb Lyrebird is not in danger of extinction, however "Lyrebirds are not endangered in the short to medium term, while the Superb Lyrebird, once seriously threatened by habitat destruction, is now classified as common. " I've heard them imitate Motorbikes, Axes, and Whip cracks, as well as trees falling.

Jul 7, 2008 - I was hiking in the victorian high country in Australia a few years ago, and through our entire walk, we could hear a C.B. radio going off, following us, or so it seemed. It was a lyrebird copying the loud radios that the park rangers use to talk with eachother ^_^ Had us confused for hours.

Jul 7, 2008 - This is an amazing and heartbreaking moment at the same time. Attenborogh does an amazing job of trying to preserve the natural world but this video shows that we might be too late. lets hope that we can figure it out before its too late. long live sir Attenborough.

Jul 7, 2008 - lol! Lyrebirds are iconic in the two areas I'm from - originally the Sherbrooke Forest / Mt.Dandenong region of Victoria and now (been here since March 2008) the Sapphire Coast of NSW.. hear them all the time, and you find their little dirt mounds.. beautiful birds, but fairly shy!!! They're noisy, but hard to spot!
