Jul 7, 2008 - I remember this guy from the late 70s. Weird show, it was on before or after Romper Room I think? Also, the Banana Splits and Captain Kangaroo were weekday morning shows before I was in school. "Tell them Barnaby sent ya".
LondonOntGuy Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Amen. I have fond memories of watching "Superhost", this, Romper Room(WUAB's version) and Liz the host in between comericial breaks.

Jul 7, 2008 - I remember watching Barnaby when I was a kid. He would always bring on cartoons, such as "Popeye", "Casper the Friendly Ghost" and among others. Linn Sheldon (RIP) always brought everyone in Cleveland wonderful memories.

Jul 7, 2008 - This brings back so many wonderful memories! Thank you so much for posting this. Does anyone know where I can find more from Cleveland TV's heyday?

Jul 7, 2008 - This is sure a welcome sight. The closing theme, as he was saying goodbye always made me cry--even when I was tiny. Still does, after all these years.
audiophile55 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Nancy G26, If you are interested in more Cleveland stuff, remember these commercials? Type in "Lawsons The Big O" and "Sohio". These 2 bring back memories for we who live in northern Ohio. Also, type in "Franz the Toymaker".
NancyG62 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Thanks, audiophile55. Like you, I also used to cry at Barnaby's closing theme. Nostalgia, gotta love it.
audiophile55 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - Nancy, I guess its good to know that the music affected someone else the same as it did me, but it's hard to say such a thing, since we don't want to cry, if you know what I mean.Stuff like this just takes me back to the innocent times, when people were so much more gentle, moral, etc. How I long for those days to be part of every day life, again. Now, it seems that people think the more agressive things are, the "cooler" they are. So untrue and so very sad that it's come to this.
LivengoodTodd Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - This guy was from my hometown of Norwalk, Ohio. Hey used to hang out with the Baicon family of Monroeville Ohio. What a clasic.

Jul 7, 2008 - Loved this show as a kid! Does anyone remember the name of the little green Oscar-like puppet that Barnaby would talk to? I refer to him as "mini Oscar" because I can't remember his name for the life of me. I think he wore a pair of tinted glasses....so cute!
bhilcu1 Says:

Jul 7, 2008 - My mom was the secretary the news director at WUAB for years. She was good friends with Linn Sheldon and is still friends with Superhost. Seeing this video brings tears to my eyes. Seeing the set in person when I was a kid was magic. Thank you so much for posting this, my sister and I both appreciate it.

Jul 7, 2008 - Spring break in 5th grade was his last show. I had to miss the whole last week because my dad dragged me to my grandparents house to help him remodel it because they were going to sell it. I'm still pissed and that was 18 years ago! BTW, my grandparents decided to keep the house. So I went through a week of abuse for nothing. WTF?
sweetmegan1997 Says:
Jul 7, 2008 - He used to live on the corner of York and Ridgewood. Didnt he come on the set drunk once and say "if anyone calls tell them that Barnaby says go to hell!"
