Nov 18, 2008 - woman, you're terrible. you're SHOWING ppl how to use a hot comb?? that is actually one of the worst straightening methods ever!! when you take the comb of the medieval marcel stove, do you know how hot it is? did you put your finger on the comb to see if it was too hot? you dunno the temperature of it, so why use it on the hair?? hot combs destroy the hair, completely thining it out due to the overheating!!you need to learn from u.b.h. black hair care forums.

Nov 18, 2008 - are u really going to take tips from a hispanic doing african american hair tutorials with expert village? hot combs should be illegal, that's how bad they are. they completely thin out the hair. for you to say she knows what she's doing is idiotic. i bet ur bald.

Nov 18, 2008 - gotta agree. She's not full latina (half black, half latina) but she doesn't deal with full coarse, kinky, curly african american hair, and also, hot combs are way too hot, and they really do burn the hair. I used to be an example before I went natural.

no1biznatch Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Actually hot combs are very good for the hair, IF you know what you're doing. The hot comb straightens your hair so you don't have to put a flat iron or blow dryer in your hair every two days to keep it presentable, which makes it fall out because of all the heat that you're putting in your hair. I have my hair pressed every two weeks and my hair has grown considerably because of it. So getting your hair pressed isn't bad if the person doing your hair knows what they're doing.

Nov 18, 2008 - well, im 14 and black with thick hair and i used a texturizer go to your local beauty shop and but a texturizer, it may have men on it but that's not the point and it should say curls in minutes. so try that and oh put petroleum jelly in your scalp make sure it gets in there and there should be a packet too where it has pink lotion in it use that too for your hair line all around your head. Hope this works.

monalisa02 Says:

Nov 18, 2008 - Any form of heat is bad for your hair. You are just one of the lucky few that have not experenced heat damage since you use hot combs in [relative] moderation. Hot combs damage your hair, period. It alters the original texture, leaves it dy and brittle, thins your hair out.. and is the reason why most of the people I know have excessive breakage.
