Orangutans are quite weakly built, its just hard to se under all that hair but their arm girth is much slimmer than a chimpanzees. And besides chimps are much larger than people think, and alpha male can stand 5 feet tall and weigh 180 pounds. A gorilla is another story, those suckers have arms as thick as a mans waist

The guys in the video were feeding the chimps, and were considered rivals by some of the males in the group, clearly... Trying to live with apes can be very informative, like jane goodall and diane fossey have proven, but it can also be quite dangerous..

Nov 18, 2008 - Alright guys, Ima lay this down for ya, when they do these strength statistics, they compare a chimp to your average day, cubicle working man who goes to the gym maybe 2 times every week, none the less, not a very strong person by any stretch, so when you hear a chimp is 3 times stronger than a man, think about a heavywieght boxer, hes about 2-3 times stronger than a man working in a cubicle right, especially a strongman competitor. Just something to think about.

Nov 18, 2008 - I wouldn't claim that. You probably would successfully poke the chimp's eye out...and really bring on his wrath. There have been cases where chimps, unprovoked, have ripped and bitten off every single appendage of the victim (and I do mean -every- appendage). The man in the video is fortunate as the chimp was simply asserting his dominance, kicking the human off "his island". On a sidenote, it appears the other chimps, concerned, almost intervene on behalf of the man.
