Oct 12, 2008 - The power of that voice...thats why I own almost everything Freddie has to offer; And of the three King's- Freddie I believe, was the best guitar player.

bluesgunner Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - I agree on the voice front. Absolutely amazing. I think I prefer BB's guitar playing though. One of those kinds of players to pull a totally astonishing lick from absolutely nowhere.

SonnyREast Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - One of my biggest influences for guitar, and just blues in general. The man was awesome.Too bad the drink got him.

SpringerSix Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - The man is awesome. Although in most of the clips on the Tube (1970's ?) he's using an ES 335 and a brighter tone, on his early stuff like "Hide Away and Dance Away"(1961) he used a Les Paul.Clapton said that he bought his first Les Paul which he used on the Bluesbreakers "Beano" album after he saw King with one on the cover of the above album.Interesting that King always slung his guitars from the right shoulder (and they keep slipping off!). Didn't affect his playing though!

bnapoleonc123 Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - Aside from his aweseiom guitar work, he's also got a great voice for the blues, probably second only to Buddy Guy, although Freddy's voice is deeper and more gravelly which is in some ways makes it sound more bluesy.

bluesmain1 Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - great example of his power and confidencehe's sooo happy right there

crayrail Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - I see this as Freddie cashing in on BB success. In addition to poking fun at his style. BB style has different elements and for me do not have the gut wrenching power of the King of the Blues Kings. Frederick Christian King...May he live on in the hearts of blues lovers everywhere.

demented20 Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - He's not cashing in at all, he's doing a cover, paying homage if you want to put it that way. He obviously respected BB a great deal and wanted to do one of his songs. How many guys have played a T-bone Walker song and played it just like him, or an Albert King song etc. Its a long tradition and Freddie pulls it off wonderfully here.

diagreen Says:

Oct 12, 2008 - these guys got da magic.
