Jul 7, 2008 - Thanks for posting this. I've been trying to track down this song since I heard it on Iain Matthews "Tigers Will Survive" album from 1972 that I found in 1979 in a Connecticut railroad salvage store barrel. Great song, still fitting, maybe more than ever.

Jul 7, 2008 - No - Farina wrote the song, not Dylan! That's a dulcimer, by the way...song is available on a CD compilation of Mimi and Richard's work.

Jul 7, 2008 - " In 1962 the Court of Appeals had ruled that the House Un-American Activities Committee was faulty in its charges against Seeger and dismissed the case against him...."check out the 'history' of this show...Farina was amazin > what a shame we lost him.2 excellent albums , what a treat to see these clips

Jul 7, 2008 - Reflections.. and Celebrations.. are two of the most magical collections ever and whilst influenced themselves , were a huge influence on so many others. Farina was killed in a motorcycle accident not long after this and Mimi passed on some years later.Extraordinately evocative.

Jul 7, 2008 - Thanks so much. This and "Bold Marauder" are among my favorites. MotoMusicBeta references Iain Matthews ( rockin') version; where I first heard it. He does a great job of Farina's "Morgan the Pirate" on his album "If You Saw Thro' My Eyes."The Farina's needed to mature as performers, esp. Mimi. Her singing needed work with tone & dynamics... Richard, not a great musician, but makes up for it with enthusiasm and verve. What a loss. Without his drive, we might never have partaken of his gifts.

Jul 7, 2008 - remember Timbuk 3? doesn't this sound like an influence on them?

Jul 7, 2008 - This is one of my all time favorite albums, ever.I first listened to Mimi & Richard Farina when I was 15 years old, 1964-1965, several times in Club 47, just off Harvard Square. I fell in love with their music, a passion that has never ended.I must mention at my age of 15, Mimi was 18 years old. I thought she was stunning, a beautiful "girl" with a beautiful voice. I miss you, Mimi and Richard. Thank you for personally touching my life.

Jul 7, 2008 - Its a Mountain Dulcimer. Also known as Appalachian or Lap Dulcimer. It is an American instruments based on German French and other zithers brought to America which have little changed since the Middle Ages.
